Interested in this. Loved the first game. So much of the appeal were the graphics and atmosphere. Could be significantly improved by modern tech.

I'm a bit surprised that EA has chosen to show this now; it's clear that development is in a very early stage.

It looked like it has potential but that's it - there's a long way to go. I suspect that many folk would have been hankering to see the game - the original is a classic! - however it feels far too soon to try and build anticipation when there is so much to be done.

That bit of footage at the end looked exactly how I remember the original game. Without a side by side comparison I'd honestly struggle to say what had been changed.

Electronic Arts is now internally targeting an early 2023 release for its upcoming Dead Space remake. The company was originally considering an October 2022 timeframe, but it never announced that publicly. Now, the company is taking extra time to ensure it gives the game enough time to wow fans when it returns.

EA and developer Motive are planning a development update regarding Dead Space for tomorrow. The game continues to impress people internally, and the goal is to have a Dead Space remake that matches Capcom's Resident Evil 2 remake in terms of quality. That is a process that will take time, and the company knows that.

(Bump) The game launches this month! It's looking good, too; same core setup and gameplay but with a lush graphical makeover.

I'd love to try it but there's no way I'm paying out for that £70 pricing point and I'll await a cost cut. I'm almost thinking about digging out my PS3 and tackling the original version.

I've never played the original and it does look good though.

I played a little of the game on PS3... but had to change my trousers as the atmosphere is so creepy. I'd like to be brave enough to give it another go, BOR!

Just a reminder for anyone with a Series S/X and Gamepass ultimate, the original is on there and looks fantastic.

This comparison between the original and the remake shows off the great graphics and atmosphere... of both versions!

It’s weird, I played the original a fair few years after release on a (for the time) decent PC and my memory must be quite a rose-tinted strawberry floating liar because this looks only a little bit better than I remember it. I know I’m almost certainly wrong.

I wish the circumstances surrounding this weren’t so scummy. I absolutely adored Dead Space when I first played it, and I just can’t give my money to EA after what they did to the original run. To have upper management run a series into the ground with shitty business decisions and then shitcan the studio behind it, only to try and bask in the glory of reviving it years later is a move so shitty that I suspect EA has a copyright for it.

A big problem I have with this remake is that while the original Dead Space is fondly remembered and had some excellent touches (non-intrusive hub, anti-grav elements), a lot has changed since then and seeing storytelling through witnessing events in another room or audio logs feels extremely PS3/Xbox 360 era.

Even for its time, the game was quite limited in scope (I understand the setting doesn't help) and amounted to a lot of fetch quests, compared to Resi 4's three-act structure and gameplay switch-ups - all from the previous gen. Imo it was always a 'huh, EA actually made a decent original game' rather than an essential title. I feel like a lot of new elements will be necessary to make this feel worthwhile in 2023.

Managed to get some Amazon vouchers for taking part in an experiment/test thing for a few hours so used them to preorder this. I had the callisto protocol preordered but cancelled a few days before release. Best decision ever.

Callisto Protocol is well worth a play but I think it’s going to plummet in price as the year goes on.

Need for speed unbound came with a 10 hour trial for gamepass. I’m guessing they won’t do that here, given size of games and length.

I love the original. I love the comparison to resident evil 2. The problem is dead space is very linear. Resident evil 2 had a few subtle tweaks to make replays worth it.

I was just thinking... no way am I gonna drop seventy wraps on this... and maybe I don't have to pay out anything at all. I could dig out my PS3 console and play the original on that.

Maybe it's time for me to cack my pants on the Triple! :toot: .
