I'm just going to play Dead Space 2, to scratch the DS itch, then play this once it's dirt cheap/free. I already completed the original on the hardest setting, but I didn't do that with 2, so it's a good reason to go back to that one instead.

I just looked but I don't think Dead Space is on EA Play for PlayStation, Rex? Thanks for the idea but I'm cool with setting up my PS3, anyway; unlike most of my older gear, it's easily accessible in a cupboard and I quite like the idea of playing on the Triple again!

Can't find the Steam version for less than like £40. I'll wait.

They want you to buy the EA at version. It’s £32. I’m tempted. With gamepass you could buy a month of ea play pro for £14 and finish it?

I want to see reviews.

PS5 copy turned up from ShopTo earlier. Started it, so far I’m liking some of the new changes (obvious being Isaac talking in it now!) and there has been a couple of small changes to some of the routes layouts. Looks bloody fantastic too and I’m only playing it via my PCs 24” 1080p screen. Trying to hold off playing some more, want to save the skid marking for the night time!

I’ve decided it’s time I showed my PC some more love so instead of buying the console version for £70 or whatever it is, I subbed to a year of EA Play Pro for £90.

I know the service isn’t too popular but I think it’s exceptional value, particularly on a year like this where they have a couple of big AAA releases alongside their usual sports and racing fare.

I used to be subbed to EA Play Pro on my PC, but the addition of new games was about on par with NES/SNES offerings on Switch. I cancelled my sub over a year ago and there are still titles near the top of the Recently Added filter that were on the service already back then.

There's some good stuff in there, but it does pretty much nothing to make it worth retaining year on year if you aren't interested in EA Sports titles.

Assuming you want a physical copy and don't want to pay an absurd premium you either take a punt and risk it being panned at which point it's to late to cancel your order. Or you hold off and then if it's good you have to wait till the middle of the following week to get your hands on it for a decent price.

I suppose I should just be patient and admittedly waiting for this won't be too difficult but it's just annoying missing out on that first weekend because you don't want to pay £70 for a game.

What exactly do you get playing it that weekend that you wouldn't playing it weeks/months/years later for a lot less?

Enjoyment of being part of an ongoing discussion. Why watch films or TV shows when they come out? Why watch sport live? Why read a new book or go to see a new attraction?

I’d be the same. I just love that sound clip too much to not use it when given the opportunity.

Gonna be honest, this looks the tits but I can’t justify buying a game that I know I’ll barely touch for a while. OG Dead space is terrifying.

I was in the mood for it all day, even had a cheeky wee boot up of the intro in work that got me even more excited. But by the time I got round to actually playing it this evening it was too loud and shouty for me. Turns out I just wanted something mellow to wind down my day.

Started on Normal last night and got an hour or so in and found it to be trivially easy so restarted this morning on hard. It’s obviously good and plays very solidly. I’m a little surprised it doesn’t look nicer given it’s Next Gen only and though it’s fun to play and definitely better than Callisto Protocol it very much feels like a PS3 remake. It hasn’t done anything so far to bring things up to date in the way the Resident Evil remakes have done so brilliantly. I imagine I’ll enjoy it all the way through but I can’t see it leaving a lasting impression.
