Dead Space | PS5/XsX/PC | 27th January 2023

A remake of the original Dead Space is in development and will be launching on the PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X. The publisher says the game is “rebuilt from the ground up” with EA’s Frostbite engine, and studio Motive — best-known for the space shooter Star Wars: Squadrons — will be handling development. There’s currently no release date.

I loved the original but preferred the sequel. The nursery section was deeply unnerving.

It'll be interesting to see what they're doing with this as next to nothing was revealed. The original trilogy hold up very well on back compat my XSX. A bump up in resolution and framerate will be great but they need to be careful as we saw with the Bioshock Remasters it can go wrong and end up changing the original feel and look.

I'd prefer this to be more of a RE1 remake. Buff up the rough edges and add more content, Dead Space 1 still holds up really well in terms of gameplay. Just could do with a bit of polishing and some new additions to bring old players back.

Just a baffling decision. I play the original fairly often and in 2021 there’s still nowt wrong with it. Bloody EA, bunch of chancers.

They remade the 2018 Spider-Man ffs. Everyone needs to stop with the faux shock at a
2008 game being remade.
But guess what? You lot can still play the original release and not pay a penny for this one

Oh man, let’s not start with what we’re defining as a remake and what isn’t. Spider-Man totes wasn’t, apart from being a lazy cash in which I hope fails miserably.

Rumour was this is going to be REmake 2 style reimagining to let EA Motive get used to working on the IP.

I'm usually not super interested in remakes of games that still run perfectly well in their initial iteration, but I reckon this could be a decent one. Imagine walking the halls of the Ishimura once again, but now in an engine that can do proper ray tracing!
