Feck, this e-mail arrived today from Play:
We have recently been informed by the manufacturer of this product that the release date has been changed to 24-Sep-2010. We have updated this information on site and will endeavour to process your order in readiness to arrive with you on the release date.

Didn't know it'd been put back a week.

Well releasing it on the same day as Dead Rising 2 would have been a little bit silly.

I wasn't even remotely interested in this game until Giant Bomb did those videos and now I kind of want to play it because it is so bad.

It's not bad, though. Sure, it's really clunky in places and thoroughly silly in others, but it's got ideas and ambition to spare, interesting characters and some fascinating dialogue.

How long has it been since that first Rainy Woods trailer was shown, three years? I waited that long for the game to see a release over here then they go and announce the release date to be in the same week as that of Reach. I'm not at all bothered that they've now decided to go for a later date, putting it out at the same time as Halo would've been loopy, but now it's coming out just one week before Vanquish, with both Fable 3 and Rock Band 3 out a week after that.

I'm not made of time!

It's a long old game, too. I think I've got 38 hours on the clock and I've far from exhausted all it has to offer. To finish it requires around 20 hours, and I think that's probably a conservative estimate.

Is it really likely to do any better? I'm not expecting this to be a big seller, but who knows.

Whereas releasing it in a month chock full of high profile releases is indeed the better way to go. It's going to get massively overshadowed by Medal of Honour (released on the same day) and then there's the likes of Castlevania and Enslaved the week before, followed by Fable III, Force Unleashed II and other just after.

Fortunately for us PS3 users, it is possible to import the asian PS3 version of this (known as Red Seeds Profile :? ), which has english voices and only minimal japanese text, such as the map and item descriptions. Handily, someone has made a substantial post containing an english-annotated map as well as list of moonspeak-english locations. Available on ebay for about £20, i'm very tempted to get it. A lot cheaper than buying a 360 anyway.

...which i have now done, should be here in a few days, going to print out the map and translation guide quite large and stick it on the wall next to the TV. I freaking LOVE the PS3's lack of region encoding.

Your character's beard grows in real time, you need to buy petrol for your car, you earn $12 for taking a shower and flies surround you if you don't.

That's unfortunately now become my thinking, too. I'll already have Enslaved and Castlevania by then, along with Force Unleashed II on the same day. This just won't get the time of day, I'm afraid to say.

That's EA MMA and Blazblue CS time for me. Knowing what my local game selling establishments are like with niche games this'll be on the shelf for all of a week and then disappear.

Bumpie, since it comes out this week.

Even though it looks bit WTF and odd; I have to say from impressions it sounds fun. I like weird horror games, and at £14.35 - well, I can't resist.

Where is selling it at that price?
