I'd say exploration and discovery are still fundamentally there. Replaying Hitman levels you don't just solve them in the same way, you experiment and find new approaches. If anything without that "repetition" structure you're much more likely to miss a lot of content, and something like Assassin's Creed with copy-paste map icon collectibles is much more actually repetitive even though it's technically "new" content because it has been copied and pasted.

Oh absolutely the exploration and discovery are there, and I personally get a huge kick out of that from repeating games and levels from things like Arkane's previous work and as you mention stuff like Hitman.

I didn't say that repetition was incompatible with those things, just that I can see how some people's sensibilities may lean them toward enjoying the single, detailed first pass through a space and story more than the "learning and understanding more about the world and sandbox through repetition" approach. Personally I like both :D

The "Déjà Vu" track from that trailer is strawberry floating immense as well! Best Bond song in years :datass:

Easily the best trailer of the State of Play last night, the game looks glorious.

I have never heard of this until today. Was a massive fan of dishonoured, but never got round to the sequels. This looks cool. Dishonoured/bulletstorm feel to it, and a bond theme. Interested.

Makes me want to watch James Bond, I’ll give em that.

Actually to be honest it’s better than most of the latest JB themes.

It's not a "PS5 action thriller"! It's on PC as well FFS. :fp:

This cover is giving me some nostalgia and I'm not sure why? Maybe the orange type-colour? Or the illustration and hazy blue background? I dunno, but I like it!

And I've only played Dishonoured 1 but the gameplay in that is so satisfyingly fluid and dynamic that I'm interested in Deathloop a lot.

It's definitely a nice cover. The whole vibe the game is going for is great IMO.

Arkane's games are always fantastic artistically. There are many games that are more technically advanced than it but for me Dishonored 2 is still one of the most drop dead gorgeous looking games from an artistic perspective.

This is probably the only game that really makes me want a PS5 atm.

Delayed until September:

I'm happy to wait, I'd much rather have a good complete game than a rushed launch and Arkane stuff is worth the wait.

So that’s September 2022 for Gamepass. Looks great, I’m looking forward to it.

I thought it was a PS5 exclusive?

Edit: oh, for Gamepass on PC? Or is it just a 12 month exclusive on PS5?

I don't know if it has ever been confirmed but the expectation has always been that it is only a 12 month PS5 exclusive

Yeah, disappointing. I did have this on my radar for buying in May (provided it didn’t fall on its arse). I can wait for it to be good.
