Playing through this now, just started the second day and it now seems to be directing me to some lab to get the infusion slab (I think it said slab) so I can keep my weapons or something when starting a new day. It’s an enjoyable game to play, not overly sold on the seemingly boat load of clues you seem to pick up though, am I meant to be able to solve those now? Or does the game generally do a decent job at directing you through the main quest on its own so I can break the loop?

Definitely finding it a lot more fun to go in guns blazing most of the time so far rather than stealth, stealth is decent if there is just one or two enemies of course. It plays great though, it looks great and so far the 2 main VA seem great too.

Come up to the lab and see what's on the slab.

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

If you use the waypoint for objectives it will pretty much hold your hand through the game. I liked the balance of seeing what threads I could progress on the level select screen but otherwise finding my own way, I'd recommend taking that approach as piecing things together yourself is much more rewarding!

The carrying over through loops thing you're about to unlock is pretty much the end of the opening/tutorial iirc.

And yeah the game definitely encourages you to be violent! The AI is terrible which means you can be freeform in your approach and not worry too much about how stealthy you are being, but fast, aggressive stealth I think is the niche it plays best at.

I think my main issue with the multiple leads you pick up, is that it feels a bit like ‘death by menu’ kind of thing when you actually go into them, or that’s how it’s felt so far anyway. The AI does seem poor so far, taken loads more damage from auto turrets than enemies

Just got the Infusion thing and done the tutorial for that, do the people you need to kill reset each day? Obviously got Wenjie out of the way and he doesn’t seem to have come back.

Put another hour into this tonight, got another slab which lets me teleport a short way and infused it. After a strong opening I’m starting to not really feel that interested in playing this much more, it’s fun to play but I’m not really sold on it as much now.

It's another very average Arkane game that attracts far more critical praise than it deserves.

I really tried to like it, but it just doesn't feel good to play.

I really enjoy the way it plays, at the moment I’m just not gelling with the actual loop of the game, I guess it’s going to get to a point where you have enough information to quickly dispatch all 8 targets in one day, but I get the feeling I’m going to need to kill all 8 individually (which makes sense of course) to get that info, then probably more in game days/loops where you work out where groups of them are together. Might give it another hour this afternoon and see if my opinion of it improves, the first couple of hours set it up really well but so far its not doing a great job of dragging me back into it.

I really enjoyed that part of it - how do I get this person to be in this location so I can get 2 in one place instead of 1.

Your mileage may vary, but for me it ended up just following an almost entirely linear chain of events presented in a pretentious and overly complicated fashion.

I found it to be nowhere near as clever on interesting as it thought it was. Like Tenet.

Edit - I did only play about 7 hours of it. Maybe it improved.

This is how I’ve found it so far, with just following the various leads the game directs you towards.

Still going to try and get another hour into it later on, I’ve no problem with dropping games I’m not enjoying these days, doubly so when they’re on Game Pass rather than having actually bought them.

And this is why we can't have good things.

I’m sorry to be a constant source of disappointment in my gaming opinions

It’s the best game I’ve played in years. Love it.
