Yeah, you can only equip stuff, infuse with Residuum etc, in-between areas.

Went after my first additional slab last night and got myself the "Blink" ability (Think it's called "shift" here) from Charlie, then made sure I had enough Residuum to infuse and keep it. It's a great ability that immediately makes the game feel even more like Dishonored.

It's such a strange mix of genres and other games as well.
There's rogue-like elements, Dark Souls elements, Majora's Mask, looter-shooters, all layered on top of Dishonored style worlds.

But it seems to work somehow, especially once you get past the initial tutorial and it's info-dump screens.

It's clear that the whole game is essentially going to be about powering yourself up to the point where you are capable of taking out all of the Visionairies within the one-loop. It's something that could potentially vary wildly from player to player too. If you're clever enough, once you know where they are all going to be you could potentially get them all relatively early. I'll be very interested to see how different people approach it.

Ive always wanted to ask this... what's with the Ian Beale avatar?

It's Dick Thornburg from Die Hard

EDIT: Though looking at it again he does look a "little" like Ian Beale in that picture.

Got a pretty solid loadout locked down now, loving some of the unique weapons you can find - who wouldn't want to blast their way through a time loop with a pair of red glittery semi-automatic pistols! :toot:

I still think the difficulty level is a bit out of whack, definitely feels like the whole thing has been balanced around playing on a controller so with KB+M you feel seriously overpowered. Enemies seem dumb as strawberry float compared to Prey/Dishonored as well - their ability to see/hear you is virtually non-existent at times, which is probably the biggest shame as it somewhat trivialises stealth. I don't think any of this puts a huge dent in the experience - it's a power fantasy game in many ways so who cares if you rarely feel massively under threat. But it would be nice to have a bit more stretch to it.

Has anyone done much invading of other players yet?

The silenced uzi is a beast for stealth kills. :datass: Infused it after my last run so I always start with it.

I've avoided invading as apparently Juliana can say some spoilery things while it loads.

Might hold off on it for a bit then.

Getting invaded by people is strawberry floating great though, really ups the stakes!

I'm terrible at FPS games and this looks amazing, so the news that the difficulty level isn't too high makes me seriously tempted.

Well depending on how terrible you are your experience may differ, but it's definitely not a punishing game by default I would say. Also the design in general leans into dying being a learning experience rather than a failure or punishment so even when you do snuff it then it never feels overly negative.

Can't wait to get back into this tonight, it's been a while since a game hooked me in as much as this :D

This comes together after a few hours.

Shift changes the game
I've got that (with Airborne and Shift upgrades) and Karnsis now. Worked out how to kill 2 in a love nest too, but don't get the times out of it :(

This is a very good game. Really starting to come together. The first part of the game is purposely slow and not overwhelming. Then when choice comes in it really becomes the true successor to Dishonoured.

I have got the silenced Uzi, dual converting pistols, invisible and link powers. I was very close to getting teleport, well I did get it but then I fell to my death trying to use it.

It just flows brilliantly and has so much going on. I was hurting a visionary and got invaded, luckily I was carrying a sentry gun so put it down and waited for the carnage. Got a free new power from the dead invader.

Taking down an invader feels awesome, and the loot drops they give are a nice bonus!

Tried to have a go at invading tonight but it just didn't seem to work for me. It takes a while whilst doing "matchmaking" which is fair enough I guess (although something to entertain the player when this drags on would be nice) but then when it's done matchmaking it just sits saying "Connecting ..." for ages before giving up :(

Powered up a couple of slab powers and enjoying using mind link which seems almost too good in the right situation. I've also been invaded twice and won each time using trip mines near doors and then going invisible and blasting away. Great way to get another slab upgrade too.

The art design of the areas is really charming. So many secret areas and to explore.

I had a few tries at invading tonight and while it took a little while to find matches it did load them without issues so might be worth trying again.

Invading is good fun and you seem to get loads of unlocks for every successful attempt, I've already got a good amount of weapons, trinkets and slabs for Julianna and I'm only rank 6. Invisibility seems quite overpowered, I haven't encountered it as Colt so I'm not sure how it looks from the invadee's perspective, but earlier I had a Colt run right up into my face so I'm assuming there's no obvious invisibility effect like in other games.

With Colt I've unlocked Shift and Nexus and have a few leads to follow in various areas and times. Nexus is fun to use and you can take out quite large groups at once if you use it right. The game can get pretty tense when you are invaded as well, it's a really cool mechanic.

Yah I finally had some success with invasions last night, and they're brilliant! Such a fun game of cat and mouse, tracking down Colt based on the signs you can see around the map telling you where he has been is a cool little detective angle to the whole thing
