Did no one else die in updaam by jumping off the cliff because a sign calls it a shortcut

Did I briefly consider it? Yes I did.
Finished an Arsenal lead in Updaam in such a badass way I wish I recorded it, procuring the sniper rifle…which is a bit rubbish :?

The sniper rifle is great though, I used mine for pretty much the whole game!

Helped that my first had the "hold fire to power up the shot" skill, which is pretty much the best

Daaayum

Some of the rewards don't match the effort required, or simply reward you for gong off and taking the time to follow and untracked quest. A few more unique trinkets would have been nice in those cases. The only unique one I can think of linked to a quest is the one you get for messing with the cannon bloke).

:slol: :D

I did l Like the special weapons. I always had a silent one and a big shooty bang bang. The arsenal lead weapons were so good it’s well worth getting and experimenting.

I mainly stuck with a fast action sniper and the nail gun for silent takedowns but really there's fun to be had with all of the weapon options!

Grenades and mines only really come into their own during invasions though I think the regular AI enemies are just too easy to deal with without needing to think about setting traps

Got stuck again in a couple of places - Arkane are gods at messing with my patience for their games!
Got shot in the back whilst on a classpass, I’d been sneaking around Frank’s house for AGES, I got to the studio booth to be one-shorted in the back :x
Tried another mission which was at Dorsey Manor at night, started really well until…well, if you get spotted there it’s goodnight Vienna.
Was making great progress through the leads but have hit a wall here. Not convinced that a couple of the Trophies are bugged too, I’ve fully upgraded Shift but it hasn’t pinged.

If you're getting stuck trying to sneak around those areas, you can always change tack and set up a loadout to go all guns blazing. There is a Rapier that fires explosive rounds which I found very useful for such situations, it basically one-shots everyone and also has surprisingly good range.

Regarding Frank's place, the first time I went in i got killed pretty quickly, leading to my first proper death. The second time I went in, after looking around a lot, I found and alternative way in, meaning I didn't need to have the classpass active. There's quite a few ways to tackle that area which make it easier in varying degrees.

My load out is catered for both - I’m sneaking until I’m seen then I sometimes have to pull the big lad out (context). Most of the guns I’ve come across have been pretty crap, and the near-endless waves of reinforcements are too much.

I found 2 alternate entrances…once I was inside  The nature of the beast I guess.

I liked that I found them after I'd already been in the place, because it made me feel like I'd really got one over on the game and been clever to find a way to circumvent the main challenge of the place. I'd done nothing of the sort of course, but it felt that way.

My go to loadout is an orange rarity shotgun that does shitloads of damage (my Juliana killer when she shows up) and a silenced smg, loaded with range perks. Got an invisibility slab that makes enemies completely dissapear without trace if you kill them while cloaked. Also got a perk to remote hack very quickly, and from miles away. Makes it so easy to disable all cameras and turrets (plus the orange guys backup calling walky talkies) very quickly.

I’m rocking a lot of that too but when things go boom I don’t have enough punch. I’ve switched out the orange sniper for Egor’s rapier but the perk is crap on that too. Not getting great weapon rolls at all.
I don’t think I have the patience for the non-signposted stuff - the smoke room pact, the cannon…a lot of the fun got sucked out yesterday (context).

I'm keen to go back to this following the AI update they did a while back as it's possible they've made it more of a challenge but generally I found one of the strong points of the combat was that it was ultimately a power fantasy - you can decimate the enemies quite easily once you've got a reasonable set of slabs and enhanced weapons.

Dorsey Manor is very populated, but even with alerting everyone and gooseberry fool really kicking off I think the player still has sufficient scope for keeping on top of things as you're so much more powerful than the enemies and have way more options for both attack and evasion than they do: Lure them into choke points, take the high ground to make yourself less of a target and them more like fish in a barrel, use Nexus to link a room of enemies and then kill them all in one go, hack a group of turrets and then draw enemies into their killzone, lay down mines in corridors and watch them go boom when enemies get near...

While the reward is very much "the friends we made along the way", and I enjoyed working them out, the actual rewards you get from them don't match the effort and have no real reward, apart from the spy bunker, which I'm glad I found at the end because it would have made things far too easy for some main quests. The reward for the smoking pact quest, is it's a kink room with an audio diary and a naked bloke. Nothing else.. What would have been a perfect reward in there would have been the trinket which allows you to breath the gas unharmed. Make it unique to that room, and it then is a great reward with story context. One of them survived becuase they had that trinket.

The ability to get information in several ways also often lessens the rewards. The updaam class pass door for example, iirc the reward for that is info on how to disable the classpass doors... which I already knew from completing the spy story... was unnecessary because I already knew how to sneak in via the vents to avoid picking up a class pass... and was all irrelevant because I already knew how to sabotage the fireworks to kill Frank so didn't need to go back there anyway

I much preferred the lore rewards, like from the torture room
