Hard to say Edge don't have sway as that tweet has definitely overshadowed this thread. A game that has an EG recommend, Kotaku, GameSpot 9, positive review from the Guardian, etc would have people excited.

I've read more about the reactions to reviews than the reviews themselves. What Limmy says kind of rings true about the Giant Bomb video I saw: the chap had played it for 30 hours and wasn't sure how he felt about the game :lol:

I think he was a fan of Kojima's works so was feeling conflicted. (They called it a mix between a walking simulator and one of those trucking games!) I've played a handful of his MG games (played but didn't finish MGS2; loved 3 and PW; completed 4 and PP and found them to be quite enjoyable) and wasn't a fan of ZotE, so I don't consider myself a Kojima fanboy and so I really want to give it a bash just to see what I make of it. But that's not good enough a reason to spend £40 or whatever! Tempted though...

I don't think that's too uncommon. A lot of reviews will straight up state how much time they've managed to put into a game before reviewing it.

Such is the effect of review embargoes and desire for clicks.

Obviously you can’t expect reviewers to 100% advert game but feel you should at least get to the end a story driven game before reviewing it.

Maybe that’s unrealistic with their deadlines.

Having read a bunch of the reviews out there now I think that Limmy tweet is bang on the money. I can't recall ever reading so many reviews where you can hear the writer straining at the seams to find a way to avoid saying they didn't like it.

It sounds like it's meant to feel like you've been through an ordeal by the time you're done. I'm intrigued but I don't think it's a Day One for me.

Went to Cambden Market where the Death Stranding experience is.

strawberry float me. There's like a billion people here. strawberry float knows what the actual experience is (i suspect an opportunity to buy merchandise) like strawberry float am I queuing all day to fund out though :dread:

For a game as technically impressive as this, if I'm to play it at all then its going to be on the PS5, (presumably) in 4k and full HDR.

And despite these strangely indecisive reviews, I can see myself really digging this as an experience; spending at least 100 hours traversing its surreal landscape, gaining BotW vibes as I scale the mountainous terrain and see a new points of interest in the distance.
