- Kojima narrating, some unnamed woman asking questions/there for conversation
- Opens with Sam getting a harmonica from a musician hologram as a delivery reward
- He works for Bridges, delivering cargo across america
- Sam has a backpack on loaded with boxes and sets off walking
- There is a crevasse with a ladder over it. A name identifies it as being placed by another player called "John"
- Sam walks over the ladder. It adds a like to a counter automatically
- Kojima says you can add more likes with the touchpad if you want. He does so, another 5 likes spinning up the counter
- Sam's boots run out of durability and break. Kojima says you need to stop, because walking without boots will make your feet bleed. Your blood level appears to be your health and is pretty key
- Sam sits down and uses an item to heal his feet. He has spare boots, so puts them on
- He has lost some blood, so sitting and resting will recover it over time. Kojima says that while this is happening, players are encouraged to go make a coffee or take a toilet break. The camera slowly pans around Sam as the meter refills
- BB (the baby) has to be kept happy. Sam looks at him - the longer you look, we're told, the happier BB will be.
- Sam gets out the harmonica and starts playing it for BB. Playing the harmonica is mapped to the touchpad on the PS4 pad. BB starts dancing to the music. If you don't have a harmonica, Sam will whistle. The more you play or whistle, the better Sam will get
- Sam stands up. Where he sat to rest is now a holographic cairn. This will appear for other players. If you rest where someone else previously rested, Kojima says something interesting will happen
- Ahead is a cliff face. There are two ladders there placed by John. Kojima climbs them. At the top is the rope Kojima place to descend earlier - it has zero likes as no other player has used it yet
- John has left a trail of footprints. You don't see other players in the world, but you see the things they leave behind. If enough players follow the same trail of footprints, it will wear down into a path
- There is a crate ahead on some rocks, abandoned by John. Sam uses a repair spray to fix it up from visible surface damage, then swaps it out on his backpack. He also sprays the repair spray over his shoulder onto his stuff. The package he picked up still has its delivery destination on it. We don't know whether John deliberately left it for another player, or dropped it out of necessity. Regardless, now Kojima has it so it won't appear for any other player
- Kojima talks repeatedly about how this is how people are "connected" through the "strand"
- It starts to rain. Rain corrodes the packages you are transporting. They can be repaired by the spray but you can seek shelter
- Ahead is a shelter that has been deployed by another player. Once under it, it auto-dispense repair spray and music starts playing. You can customise the music when you deploy a shelter, we're told. I think it's supposed to be a recognisable Japanese pop song?
- It skips on, and we're introduced to the "mule" enemy type. Mules are people who have become obsessed with making deliveries. They won't kill you, but they will attack you and take all your stuff. They send out pings to detect you from your cargo, so Kojima drops his current stuff on the floor before approaching their base
- "This is a stealth bit" we're told. You can sneak in long grass. Sam pings back to see the enemy's location. Their base is full of cargo that has been stolen from other players
- Sam takes down a mule from behind by tying him up with rope. "Rope has lots of uses in this game"
- Sam gets in close and steals some of their stuff. He swaps out his power exoskeleton (for carrying more stuff) for a speed skeleton (increased movement speed)
- Sam gets spotted. Kojima says he has a bola gun that he picked up earlier
- The bola gun wraps up enemies that it hits, same as they were tied up with rope in melee
- The mules are throwing back shock spears, intended to incapacitate Sam. He starts running away
- A mule drives past in a truck. Using the speed skeleton Sam catches up to the truck and pulls out the driver. He steals the truck and starts driving away
- You'll be able to get Bridges trucks later in the game
- The truck takes damage from more shock spears and Sam is forced to go on foot
- He sprints away until the speed skeleton runs out of charge
- He gets outside of the mule territory, past which they won't pursue, and finds another shelter to rest. It also plays music
- At some point (this might have been earlier) Sam switches his backpack for a maglev trailer to carry his cargo. When empty, this trailer can be surfed on - it looks like shield surfing from Breath of the Wild
- We skip on later again to a city area for the other enemy type - BTs
- It's starting to rain. BTs are from the other side, they only appear in the rain
- The rain turns black the closer they are. It lands on the screen and runs down it
- You can avoid BTs by avoiding areas where it is raining. Later on you can get weather forecasts to help
- Through his link through his mother BB is connected to the other side, so can detect BTs. The arm-instrument (I forget the name, Kojima also gives it a development name that got changed) will flash in the direction of BTs. The closer you are, the more it flashes. It starts flashing very rapidly
- You can only see BTs when you stand still. The figures are just floating there. Kojima calls these ones "Watchers". They can't see Sam but can hear him and detect his presence
- Sam starts sneaking through with his hand over his mouth
- Kojima equips his bola gun, now modified with Sam's blood. His blood is key to damaging BTs
- He fires it at a few Watchers, killing(?) them, but then gets spotted
- Once spotted, tar starts coming up from the ground. A different type of BT then comes up through the tar and tries to drag you down. The more cargo you have, the harder it is to escape
- Sam is dragged down, and rapidly carried through the tar to a different area
- Here is another type of BT, a "catcher". This one is wolf(?) like, and is apparently the weakest. There are many types of catcher we are told
- Sam enters combat with the catcher. He uses blood grenades to cause damage, but it has a lot of health. He climbs up onto rubble and cars to avoid the slowing tar
- Sam then climbs up onto a building. This starts to collapse and he jumps to another
- Sam switches to a weapon that contains his shower water rather than his blood. Shower water doesn't do damage like blood, but has a slow effect
- Sam runs out of grenades, so he sends a distress call. A couple of players appear as white phantoms and throw him supplies - they can't fight themselves, but they can give Sam supplies and cheer him on
- Finally Sam defeats the catcher
- The demo ends with Kojima saying "Floating crabs"
