Okay but that's a very small aspect of the game. I'm just talking about the combat as a whole.

Sure, if you go into the cargo menu and select them all individually. Which is a huge pain in the ass and so so many extra button presses. If you try to just press drop on the weapon wheel it kicks you out rather than just letting you select multiple things to drop like it does in, again, Fortnite  or even Apex.

Anyways, I'm seriously considering getting the Sam Nendroid, should I? I know it's expensive but it's so cute!

Hideo Kojima has announced Death Stranding Director's Cut will be launching for Mac later this year, with future Kojima Productions games also said to be heading to Apple's machines.

Played the first couple of hours of this and not sure what to think. It's kind of compelling but it's going to need to step things up I'm terms of both narrative and gameplay if I'm going to stick it out I think.

Really can't stand the America of it all as well :dread:

Don't get too caught up in side missions early on (or even, ever) because the main quest will unlock better equipment which will make the game more enjoyable, so mailine that til at least chapter 3 or 4 I think.

It's a weird one for me. The story is bonkers and basically just Kojima having a wank for 40 hours (The cellphones are handcuffs!) but I found the ganeplay weirdly compelling. The most engaging walking has been in a videogame.

Alternate opinion - don't exhaustively complete all the side content as you go, but definitely play some of it. You unlock new items from side quests which are fun but later become obsolete, so it's nice to play with things while they are still relevant and useful in the main story. If you leave it all to the end it'll be quicker to complete overall but it'll be more repetitive with less motiviation to do so. The world traversal continually changes as you progress and I think it's a shame to not get more out of each variation in gameplay before moving on. That said I did find the traversal fun from the very start and really liked that early more restricted challenge of just using ladders and ropes to take different routes just because I could.

It's a game about convincing America that isolationism is bad, about relearning what has value in a post-capitalist world, and about how guns can pose an existential threat to society - so it's not too American by my assessment ;)

Thanks for the input both, I've not been presented with much in the way of side content yet but I will bear your comments in mind!

It's very much not a spectator type of game, but actually playing it is just oddly cathartic.

It’s bloody brilliant, and one of the games I look back on most fondly. It really does feel like a personal journey and yet one where you indirectly sense the interactions of those around you.

Sorry yes I should have really made it clear that it's gooseberry fool to watch the game. She absolutely loves it and has been playing it since last Christmas and still hasn't finished it.

A24 confirm they are making a Death Stranding movie with Kojima.

https://variety.com/2023/film/news/death-stranding-movie-a24-hideo-kojima-1235837362/

“A24 was born into this world about 10 years ago, their presence is singular within the industry, they are like no other,” Kojima said in a statement. “The films they are delivering to the world are high in quality and very innovative. I have been attracted to their creations and they have even inspired my own work. Their innovative approach to storytelling aligns with what Kojima Productions has been doing for the last 8 years. Now, we are making a ‘Death Stranding’ movie together.”

“There are a lot of ‘game adaptation films’ out there but what we are creating is not just a direct translation of the game,” the video game creator added. “The intention is that our audience will not only be fans of the games, but our film will be for anyone who loves cinema. We are creating a ‘Death Stranding’ universe that has never been seen before, achievable only through the medium of film, it will be born.”
