To get the most from all of the mechanics I think you have to be willing to mess around doing different things just because you can, rather than having any need to experiment. As an example one of the new fabrications in the Director's Cut is a cargo catapult. I only had an actual need for it once - when rebuilding one of the (new) roads I crashed my truck in a ravine and got it wedged stuck in a river, so I built a catapult next to it to launch the materials that were too heavy to carry all at once and land them where needed next to three different construction points. That was cool and helpful, although still not necessary, and I only crashed anyway because I was messing about driving - but I'm glad I did as it led to that situation. On a couple of other occasions though I made catapults overlooking mule and terrorist camps as you can use it as artillery to bombard them and knock enemies out. Entirely unnecessary, and much slower and less effective than just driving in and shooting them, but it was very fun!
You might like some of the ranked deliveries Kaz as they impose some stricter limitations, like only allowing you to use 2 fabrications during the delivery (so you can't just use your network of ziplines). I haven't actually yet done any myself though because I was busy trying to get the game finished first!
I really need to give this another go, I played it for a while when I first got my PS5 but then as always something else came along and caught my eye. Once I'm done with Elden Ring, perhaps.
Tomorrow Is in Your Hands: Death Stranding Available August 23 with PC Game Pass
Summary
Kojima Productions and 505 Games are incredibly excited to announce that Death Stranding is launching August 23 with PC Game Pass. The genre-defying open world action-adventure game stars Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, and Lindsay Wagner. Windows 10/11 PC gamers can expect such features as ultrawide mode, photo mode, high frame rate, and cross-over content from some very well-known franchises.
Right now I'm carrying the dead body of the last POTUS who's also my mother to an incinerator because if we don't burn the body then it'll explode and also it has to be Norman Reedus because he can come back from the dead and also sense the invisible time dilation monsters and there's acid rain and babies in tanks. Before this I was freelance for Yodel.
I'm assuming I should just do what the game is telling me to do and I'll get some sense of what's going on as it progresses, yeah? I hate not having a complete handle on the narrative of whatever I'm playing/watching/reading so this is a little frustrating, ha.
Yeah, all that becomes clear enough. I am often confused at the end of complex stories (gaming or film), but this one is actually pretty self explanatory. Daft and melodramatic in places certainly, but not requiring further research on a wiki etc.
I'd say the weirdness is part of the appeal, and you won't get a complete picture of what is going on until the end, but it's not incoherent and there is plenty of exposition throughout.
I absolutely loved this game. I played it last Xmas and the time just flew by. This, Snatcher and Boktai are the only Kojima games that have really done it for me. It has the best online in any game ever. Genuinely thought provoking.
Tricky one. It makes the game easier by adding lots of new kit. This in turn means the simple act of plodding along is reduced, and many of the mechanics become near arbitrary. But then the ultra widescreen and 60fps looks stunning (the vistas really benefit from this, especially if you have an OLED screen so you cant even see the letterboxing).
I played the DC, but I did wish that I wasn't able to ignore so many of the game systems so readily.
I think you can move a PS4 save to the DC, but I have no idea if it can be moved the other way (I'm going to guess it can't).
There is a fair bit of additional content in the DC, so that nagging feeling of missing out would probably be stronger than the feeling of it being too easy.
So sad to say that Ryan Karazija lead singer and song writer of Low Roar has passed away at the age of 40. Their music means a lot to me (and has been a constant accompaniment to my life since the first Death Stranding trailer). Its been a tough few years and their music always gave me a little solace.
