The upgrade paths is a mess at Sony. Why doesn’t Ghost of Tsushima be that similar or as cheap?
Completely agree with this. Why is this a one off fee to upgrade to the PS5 version and new content whilst Ghost of Tsushima requires 2 upgrades from the bog standard PS4 game? I think Sony is losing it over the marketing of some of these upgrades
It is a one off fee to upgrade GoT PS4 to GoT PS5 with the director’s cut DLC.
The two-step thing is if you want the PS4 Director’s Cut, then later decide you want to upgrade it to PS5
I only briefly played the PS4 version - a few hours and I thoroughly enjoyed it! - and I think this is the PS5 game that, right now, I'm most looking forward to. Just imagining those environments and textures in 4K... wow! I have the digital version and will be going for the upgrade. Roll on 24 September!
Great upgrade price for a lot of extra content. I'll probably start a new save and get back into it from the beginning. Worth it for that moment when taking the first long walk and the music kicks in.
This game was so close to being incredible. Thinking about the opening section and early hours of gameplay makes me want to play it again but then I remember how much everything else burned me and I promise myself I'll never play it again.
Can't quite remember but I think it was an option on the PS5 home screen underneath the game after putting the PS4 disc in, like where all the game news and trophy info etc. shows up
Got the platinum on the director's cut last night, my first platinum in quite a long while. Such a great game! Great core traversal, controls superbly, a breadth and depth of mechanics, very satisfying progression, well integrated shared world, excellent performances, engaging story and world building, plus it looks and sounds great. I think I enjoyed it even more than my first playthrough on PS4 (which I never finished despite playing an awful lot).
Honestly the only thing I can fault is the lack of difficulty, and that's a result of the game giving you so many fun options and controlling so well.
I'm glad I never finished the first time so I was motivated to replay this with the added director's cut content, it has some significant additions and more than I realised. The extra fabrications (weapons, structures etc.) all blend nicely into the base game, the extra factory missions while brief are very cool and add meaningfully to the story, and my highlight is the firing range drills which are essentially MGS VR missions. The racing is the least good addition, as the roadster vehicle is rarely useful and the races themselves are a bit dull. Certainly it was more added content that I was expecting and I felt well justified the £5 upgrade.
I thought it was amazing also, and agree that all the options it gives you does mean there is an extreme lack of difficulty, which feels like a real problem in such a systems driven game. It all feels a touch inconsequential when certain things unlock relatively early on. Some tweaks there to make it feel a bit more epic and fraught with peril might have meant it would have been one of my favourite games of all time.
Still incredible though. And I say that as someone who is not a massive fan of MGS and Kojima's work in general.
