I'm not sure it really makes sense to compare them. I don't think a star rating for Paw Patrol is even comparable to a star rating for a Scorcese film. The audience is just different, the reason for them existing different.

Quite a bit of variance in the Death Stranding reviews, I'm excited to play it!

Has it been stated anywhere how much they've spent? Dev team is less than 100 and it's "only" taken about 3 years which doesn't feel too bad but I imagine they've spent a huge amount on the motion capture and actor stuff.

As I mentioned immediately after:

It's an absurdity, a ridiculous comparison to highlight the ridiculousness of the image and the humour that comes from it.

Sony must have been involved in the startup costs as well though surely - a whole new studio being set up cannot be cheap. Also aren't they based in some ludicrously lavish office?

Any chance we could talk about Death Stranding and keep Luigi's Mansion chat to the Luigi's Mansion thread?

Christ.

I do kind of get your point, but also it just highlights the diversity in film as well. The audience for LM and DS aren't really the same just as the audience for Paw Patrol and The Irishman aren't, admittedly there is probably more crossover in games though.

For once I agree. It was a throwaway gag image. That's literally it.

The whole kids game thing with Luigi's Mansion 3 is a bit naff isn't it? Surely the majority of players buying it day 1 are adults who've been with the franchise since its Gamecube days? I know that's the case for me, LM1 was the first game I bought with my Gamecube, 2 was one of my favourite games on the 3DS and actually rebought a 3DS last Christmas just to go through the series before rebuying a Switch after hearing about LM3 getting a release on it.

As for Death Stranding I'm looking forward to it, zero interest in ever having games reviews influence my purchases, just look at both State Of Decay 2s reviews and Days Gone's - 2 games I loved playing through that didn't particularly review well.

PostRe: Death Stranding | Kojima Productions | PS4 - 08/11/2019 / PC - 2020

As the credits roll on Death Stranding, heavy with unearned pathos, the impression you're left with is of a self-congratulatory monument to the ego of a creator who is high on his own supply. Has Kojima always been this full of it? Maybe. But then you return to the game proper, select a humble delivery order, lace up your boots and plan another reckoning with those unforgettable, haunted moors. And you realise that this game has got under your skin in a way few do.

In the same way that just doing core mission gameplay was so much fun in MGSV this quote from Eurogamer about DS makes me think that I will enjoy the times when it just lets you get on with the actual game.

I feel the need to quote the Bhagavad-Gita or something here. Jesus.

N64 Magazine did the no score review for Ocarina of Time back in 98 because they hadn't completed it. I was so hyped for the review issue to see just how good it was (because the number mattered a lot) and they finished the review with "??-we'll tell you next month!" :x

Honestly this was my initial reaction but I hate my past self so much for posting a joke tweet and then trying to explain it to someone who clearly did get it but wanted to act nonplussed that I just want the whole conversation to dry up.

Also, I apologise for invoking the good name of Paw Patrol. Everyone likes dogs.

Hey, I hear you can turn your gooseberry fool into grenades in this game. How about that?!

Not sure whether to buy this or Luigi Mansion's 3 this month.

The one that was better than the Ghostbusters remake but worse than Dunkirk.
