From where? It's been almost entirely positive.

I'm saying this as someone who has very little interest in playing the game.

Wow :slol:

How hasn’t that had any criticism? I don’t mind product placement if it fits in, but that’s so out of place.

That guy is a massive Microsoft fanboy who writes for a Microsoft fan site so I'm not surprised that annoys him.

Alan Wake's Energizers that quickly ran out of power remains one of my favourite pieces of product placement.

 How did that even come about? Like, Monster as a brand I can imagine speaking to videogames developers looking for opportunities because it fits with their target demographic but did Remedy call up Energizer and say: “we’ve got a game with a lot of batteries, want to pay us to call them Energizer batteries?”

FFXV has the worst product placement going IMHO. Coleman camping gear and Nissin noodles I was on board with but American Express was a step too far.

If American Express exists in this fantasy world then so too must America exist which for me was just too much.

Should have been Colman’s mustard. The only true Coleman.

Kotaku's review describes the narrative as "spellbinding", yet seemed to reckon its better conveyed through the gameplay - gameplay that, according to another review I've read (might've been Gamesradar), sounded a bit cynical concerning the game's simplicity, citing a lack of variety outside of hauling cargo from point to point.

As for Edge...well, they "ran out of enthusiasm" apparently. So for me personally, I'd be going into this trusting my own gut instinct than anything else.

Listening to the latest Giant Bomb East podcast and 2/3rds of them strawberry floating hated it. Dan Rykert, a die hard MGS fan, straight up said it's the least fun he's ever had playing a game. Even Vinny Caravella, who enjoyed the moment to moment gameplay, said it 'turned to ashes in his hands' in the last third.

There are several people I trust on game opinions, so I'm going to let them pick it up and see how they get on with it. Everything I've heard is "No, but you're MEANT to be bored, though!" in defense of the gameplay, which is hardly a ringing endorsement.

"Make the subtext text" does indeed seem to be this game's bag. I mean...Heartman (man who has a heart attack every 20 minutes)? Sam Porter Bridges (man who is both a porter, a member of an organisation called Bridges and also who is building metaphorical bridges)? Mama (she had a baby)?

yeah.

Sounds like they've taken MGSV's weak points and amplified them. Was interested at first and the game world looks great but life's too short for games with bad gameplay.

I totally forgot this was an exclusive. I was thinking I'd pick it up for 15 quid, but I don't have a PS4.

Some of the reviews for it are really funny. Looking forward to some forum impressions when it drops.
