It's a real slow start.

How slow? 2 hours of cutscenes?

Speaking of which, has this broken the record (currently held by MGS4 I believe) for longest cutscene?

I've seen people saying the interesting plot is real backloaded, like upwards of 10 hours. You still get peak dumb Koji until then, but mostly through dialogue interaction rather than N A N O M A C H I N E S type stuff.

Hopefully someone can confirm one way or the other.

At least one friend is enjoying his time with it, but still gonna wait for a couple others to act as guinea pigs.

Just arrived at home, and I'm stuck at work :'(

Don't think I'll be able to play myself until tomorrow but at least I'll see it in action tonight (hopefully without getting too many spoilers)

Not quite that slow but the first 60 minutes or so is fairly rigid in what you're allowed to do, with a lot of story.

Just unlocked chapter 2.

The walking and the music kicks in. My god it's amazing. So beautiful.

Also the fact you can like random acts of kindness and that helps level up good people is genius.

After work I went to collect my super huge collectors edition from GAME. Will unpack tomorrow.

So far I'm enjoying it. It's something with huge potential and I'm already loving the world and the feel of it.

Also BB rocks.

Wish my image sig would work

I keep thinking I want to wait on the PC version.

But then the hype train keeps getting to me and I keep thinking of caving in.
May end up buying digitally tomorrow....

Only been able to play the Prologue and the start of Chapter 1 tonight. The game looks amazing. Hasn't been much in the way of gameplay as of yet, but the story seems really interesting. The BTs are very eerie, looking forward to encountering them in gameplay.

Very early days but so far I'd say this is at least on a par with Luigi's Mansion 3.

Played through the prologue, absolutely stunning game. Looking forward to getting properly stuck in after Saturday with my few days off work.

This is such a weird game. I'm not even sure that I like it and yet I feel compelled to continue playing.

For anyone who's on the fence, if your main issue with MGSV was the empty map or you don't like climbing mechanics or slow exploration, this probably isn't the game for you.

Caved and ordered from Amazon since I had £10 credit and it says it'll get delivered tomorrow.

Compelling is the right word. Even just watching this being played, it's very immersive in its loneliness and mysteries. Helps of course that it looks stunning too.

It's unique for sure, but not lacking in comparisons to make. The empty outposts with contact only through holograms conjure the same lonely feelings as exploring in No Man's Sky did. The messages and constructions of other players clearly recalls Dark Souls. The MGSV connection is obvious in the menus and trappings. The natural environment mostly nothing more than terrain to traverse reminds me of Steep of all games. The inventory management and making deliveries is actually not dissimilar to The Trail by 22cans/Peter Molyneux - probably not something people are familiar with but I think a very interesting comparison to make.

There are some other more superficial familiar elements, like the progression across North America from East coast to West - it was only very recently I did the same journey in Overland, so its funny to see. Overland shared a post-apocalyptic setting and a mysterious alien or supernatural enemy.

In its city state setting, it's not another game I'm reminded of but the anime Big O - probably mostly because of the naming, but also from the allusions to a lost past and the connection to the past being lost. Maybe Trigun too, with the void outs, but that's probably reaching.

I caved and bought the digital version. :fp:

The character models are superb. There’s no sign of “dead eyes.”

And for a moment I thought: “Why is one of Batman’s nemesis in this game?”

Apparently BBs baby noises come out through the controller speaker. Nice touch
