I found the game's difficulty peaked early (with that mini-boss in the gardens of the mansion, honestly  )

Despite what i said earlier, I actually think the difficulty on this is perfectly pitched.

It has its moments where it is tricky but nothing is ever impossible and just takes a bit of thought and focus and to get past. And it's very satisfying when you do. It's great game design.

This game really caught me guard. It's excellent. Just beat the frog boss.

Probably the hardest bit for me was the gauntlet to get to the frog. That killed me many times.

The last boss is a bit tedious. Having to redo all the sections just gets boring. What a shame.

Do people reckon this a game better suited to the Switch than on the big screen?

Always been tempted by it, and it's £11 in a sale at the moment. But I would feel a bit guilty seeing as I "own" it on Gamepass already.

I've only played it on Switch but it certainly felt at home there. You could always start it on gamepass and see if you get the feeling you'd rather be playing on handheld.

Depends how much you favour handheld gaming. There's nothing inherently "handheld" about the game, and I don't imagine it's in any way improved by the Switch's relatively cramped controls (I only use mine in TV mode with the Pro controller). And personally, I'd baulk at the idea of paying for a game I already have access to.

I preferred it in handheld mode FWIW

The Switch tends to be my indie games machine. Didn't set out that way, but I've found that's what it gets used for. The "console" games, like your BOTWs, get played on the big screen.

I tend to play a lot of roguelikes in handheld mode, often while the TV is being used for, erm, TV. Though am I right in thinking that Death's Door doesn't have roguelike elements? Is it more of a "one and done" thing?

I do sometimes splash out on Gamepass indie games for the Switch - I bought Spelunky 2 recently as I thought it was just more suited to handheld bursts. Dicey Dungeons and Slay the Spire are some other ones I'm temtped to buy, despite having them on Gamepass. Might at.least treat Gamepass as a free unlimited demo in those cases though, as I'll give them a try first.

Yeah Death's Door isn't a roguelite, it doesn't have any procedural generation

I played through all of Death’s Door in handheld as well, I personally prefer playing games of that look and style on a handheld

Yeah, anything 2D, horizontal or overhead, or isometric gets played in handheld for me

Post game content: yay or nay?

I think I'm suffering a bit of fatigue from the game world now so unless people say it's amazing, I think I'll skip it.

Hmm good idea. Might take a break and go back to it at a later date.

How long is the post game stuff?

I found it to be the best part of the game - less combat, more discovery

Yes it's great to play after when you finished. A lot of secrets to discover.
