Is there an optional power somewhere for dealing with those stone circles on the ground around the place? I know I'm missing loads of collectibles because of them.

Also what does the bell do, other than make the world darker and have a ghost appear at the cemetary? I have no clue and don't fancy stumbling around.

I'm also missing a weapon somewhere, I have the daggers, hammer and umbrella.

Finally does the doors glowing red mean there are collectibles still in that area?

Answers in above order:

I only discovered this near the end, but it’s something you can do from the start! I too thought they were stone circles, but they’re drain covers. Some of them can be… approached from above. Being vague in case you want to try to figure it out further, but glad to give more specific help if you want it.

The bell makes it nighttime. Most areas have something(s) altered, and it’s necessary to re-explore at night if you want 100%. There’s quite a lot more to do, if you’re so inclined. You can get the ghosts to follow you…

Yes, there’s another, but it’s way off down the road to 100%, IIRC.

Yes, the red glow means there’s more to do in that area. Not just collectibles.

I thought they were teleporter pads... that's genuinely annoying I could have been using them all along :fp:

Thanks for answering!

That’s what I thought too! Guess it’s because they’re clearly in pairs, with one one being accessible.

Think I'm enjoying the postgame of this the most, less enemies to fight and more discovery. Done the ghosts and braziers, done the squid, and got the great sword.

Also thought you'd appreciate this run I had at the final boss rinks:

Some good dodging going on there. I loved the squid and its end-game quest.

btw, one of the achievements in the Xbox version was to complete the game with only the umbrella. If you fancy a challenge, it was quite fun.

And 100% - after 13 hours, which was a longer post-game than I was expecting! Granted I probably wasted a lot of time looking for some collectibles in the wrong places. I actually really enjoyed it, being stronger and with the areas already unlocked meant combat was less frequent and I could be more aggressive during it, and I liked the post-game bosses. There was a lot more focus on puzzle solving and doing these little tasks rather than the main game's singular approach to progress. Slightly disappointed the 100% ending was just a cutscene and not a final boss to fight, but I enjoyed the exploration and puzzle solving required to get there. Examining the shiny thing to solve the family grave was my highlight for satisfying puzzling!

This game started as a 6/10 for me, felt like a 7/10 when I got to the standard ending, and has finished as an 8/10 thanks to the post-game.

Did you let him prepare you a meal with his human hands?

Killjoy. I thought it was funny. I thought the related lore item was funny too.

Oh, and I really should check to make sure I'm not being phenomenally stupid: there isn't a map, is there?

No, no map!

So did Octodad also feature a squid using a corpse like a puppet to pass as human?

Thought not. That's probably the biggest single problem I have with the game. There's probably some 'we wanted you to get lost' reason behind it, but to me it seems like a completely asinine decision.

And that's tha finished. Got all the shrines, think I was missing seven or eight shiny things, and obviously there's the postgame OR loves so much which I'm not going to do. I've had my fill. Good, if not great, game. 7/10.

If you liked it, why would you leave it unfinished? The things that get you to 100% are great, and Jefferson has plenty of clues for you.

I'm a recovering completionist, but unless a game's really grabbed me I generally don't bother myself with post-game content. I have too many other things to play!

To be fair if you got all the shrines that was half of my postgame  Your % must be pretty high?

I take it you didn't have the same problem with the drain covers then!

Finished this today. Really enjoyed it start to finish. I wish the secrets were a bit more accessible. I made it to the final boss still with only 4 hearts. It's a lovely little Zelda-lite, world and characters were really fun, story was lacking somewhat though and I was really progressing for the combat rather than to see what would happen.

I don't like isometric views generally and this didn't change my mind. It works in spite of that rather than being elevated by it.

Regardless, cracking little indie and glad I played it. Wouldn't put it above Kena though.
