So in the Playstation Network thread there we were discussing what we think 'retro' games now are.
Post 1998?
Over 6 years old?

What do you think?

Huh? I'm just making a new thread as that one was veering a bit off topic, mate.

generally speaking I consider that last gen stuff is just old, and "Retro" is anything more than a generation old.

Anything pre-1998 sounds about right. In ten years, it'll be anything pre-2008.

Except that would make PS2 and Xbox games 'just old' while GC games would be 'retro' by that definition.

Which doesn't make an awful lot of sense.

At this point I'd probably consider anything up to the N64/PS1 era retro.

Er, GC, PS2 and Xbox are of the same generation.

Oh, right. You mean because Nintendo have - snrk - started the next gen early. It's a transitional thing, it'll be a minor irritatnt for a few months, but it'll be right in perpetuity.

If it doesn't harness the power of the cloud, it's retro.

I love the mental image of Microsoft trying to sell people rides on this carriage pulled by an empty horse harness trying to claim it's powered by "the cloud".

Anything over 10 years/2 generations old, though I may class Dreamcast as retro but not the PS2.

I guess now would be a bad time to point out that TecToy still makes Master Systems in Brazil?
