Gave up on this and sold it. Maybe a few years ago I would have had the time and patience. It is a stunning game, but not more me anymore, which is a shame.

You have to complete the first level before you can start levelling up.

After dipping back into this thread I decided to fire up a new game of DS. I played a decent amount of the US version last year on import but sold it on when I heard rumours of an EU release (made a healthy profit too!). Picked up the EU release at launch but it was still in the wrappings until last week. Anyways, started as a knight and ploughed through up to the Phalanx with no real problems (aside from not being able to remember what to do on the bridge with the Dragon). It all seemed rather easy, has the EU release difficulty been toned down?
The only real disappointment was in the strategy guide for the black phantom release, there were far too many occasions where it just said 'see the DS wiki site for details on dealing with this boss'. Thats a bit lazy.
P.S. Oh I still loves this game.

Your tantrums earlier in the thread :fp:

Might go back to this due to the Pure White Tendency event. I was pretty far into my new game + playthrough.

Chalky's tantrums

Might be tempted to start again as a Royal or Mage.

This is the only one game I've had my eye on for the PS3 apart from Uncharted 2. Just ordered it yesterday, dispatched today, can't wait to try it out over christmas.

o for strawberry float sake

My Demons Soul order was the one order that put me over my overdraft until student loan comes in. This game better be worth it.

Will it be OK to add some of you to friends to do some of this online?

I've yet to meet anyone but randoms online on this.

I've got the US version, and the online servers are region locked :(

You're only supposed to play with randoms.

Getting into a game with a specific player you want is intentionally convoluted.

I've got the limited edition versions for both the US and UK. 8-)

Think I might start a new character soon. Why does this game seem particularly Christmassy to me?

That's a shame Maf. All my friends on PSN have the US version. I was stupid to wait so long

ah ha!! could be.. Those LOTR Xmas's were rather ace. I also remember seeing the old LOTR film after getting back from work on Christmas Eve in 1988 (it sticks in my head for some reason). They do seem to go together.

Man this game is difficult    strawberry floats you over in real life as well.

I'm playing on a PS3, you should be with us on PC by now :x

My sister is actually using the ps3 for iplayer, can't wait till she's done with strictly dancing, DS arrived today and really wanna try it out. I love RPG games, especially the punishing but rewarding ones.

FFS, this game has massive flaws all over the place already. The controls aren't great, the camera is absolute shite and it doesn't help that certain levels have really small spaces in which you can't see.

Right click to lock onto an enemy? Who the hell decides the default controls? At least on PC I can map my own controls. Graphics are not impressive.

Despite the flaws I'm still going to persevere to see what all the fuss is about.

O and the ragdoll physics? Absolutely laughable.
