Right click to lock onto an enemy? Who the hell decides the default controls? At least on PC I can map my own controls. Graphics are not impressive.

Despite the flaws I'm still going to persevere to see what all the fuss is about.

O and the ragdoll physics? Absolutely laughable.

Typical PCtard - I can't map controls and the game doesn't look good Image

Go back to pussying about with graphic cards and bench marking Crysis and leave the proper games to those who handle them ;)

Playing this game is like going back in time

Some parts looks absolutely lovely though, like when you first die and enter some nexus thing, the floor looks awesome.

I think I will go back to PC games. Ease of use on consoles my arse.

This game should come with a screenshot feature, the nexus world, right after you get booted there by the end of the tutorial looks fantastic. Booting up the game now.

Who here has the UK version? I've heard I can come into other peoples worlds and strawberry float gooseberry fool up  :shifty:

I love how I go from detesting the game to loving it in the space of 4 days. Quite a turnaround.

You want it, Prototype? I can send it tomorrow morning. I'll be glad to get rid of it.

Just........strawberry float it!

See, this is the kinda gooseberry fool I'm talking about. How is that in any way fun? I'd sooner read through Photek's post history. It's the main reason I don't play RPG's, this grinding bullshit. There's a million other things I'd rather spend my time doing.

And that's exactly what I'll have to do if I ever turn it on again and have another go at the first boss. I don't want to deal with the frustration and anger that the game brings out of me. What do I do with Load Demon's Soul and hero's souls and stuff like that?

You can trade the souls you get from the bosses for stuff ranging from weapons to spells from the folks in the nexus (it depends on the soul as to who will trade). The lesser souls give you souls to use for leveling up/buying stuff. They are worth using only when you want to spend them as you don't lose items when you die.

Got this for my birthday and have just started it so must be missing something. Am I missing something? I thought I'd really enjoy it, but the system seems totally broken.

I'm playing the first level, up til I die. I am now back at the Nexus, with nothing so I can't improve. So I fight my way back to where my souls were lost, grab them and leg it back to the Nexus to trade. Nothing there that would help anyway, so back to the level. What's this? EVERYTHING has respawned and there are no checkpoints....WTF??? So is it just grind and risk it all, over and over, no checkpoints and everything repsawns every time you restart, but you can't save anything til you do the whole level and eventually you might beat the level? All it needs is a pointless timed section and I'll be in total videogame hell

You should be opening up doors and gates as you go along for shortcuts when you come back.

Once you get through the first level you will be able to upgrade stats/weapons and open up a choice of levels to go to next. There are some items to be found which are a great help, and also several shortcuts which once opened remain open even if you restart. It chucks you in at the deep end but the game starts to make sense once you get through that opening level.

Thanks for the tips Jellion, but now I am confused. I started on the tutorial, and after beating some puny minions, was pitted against a Godzilla sized boss, who naturally (as he has a one shot kill ability and loses about half a pixel off his screen wide health bar with a 3 hit combo) beat me. And that's how I've started in Nexus - there's only one level open to me, which is where my previous post starts from. Is this what's meant to happen? As Tony Vreski said, there's no explanation, just the odd NPC saying "Woe is me, demons are here" etc.

I want to like this as I've been looking for a good RPG, but this game seems to make you want to dislike it!

Yes that is normal. You have gone through the tutorial (you're supposed to be killed during it) and the only level currently available is 1-1. Once you get through this level you will have the option of doing 1-2, 2-1, 3-1, 4-1, and 5-1, and also the ability to upgrade stats so the game opens up a lot more when you do get through it.

You should also be opening up a couple of shortcuts in level you are on, which makes repeating the level much quicker and easier.

One other tip: Don't kill any NPCs as they do actually stay dead, there's no going back, and it can seriously ruin your game. I accidently poisoned a blacksmith and after that I was unable to upgrade most of my weapons. :fp:

It does. Its an unforgiving, bastard sonofawhore of a game, but if you stick with it, itll hook you like no other game.
The first giant boss is meant to kill you, to soften you up to realise that youre going to spend mst of the entire game dying. If you talk to the glowing blue guy in nexus after you die, he points to an archstone and says 'why dont you try one of the archstones?'. So you touch it, go to level 1 and thats where it all begins. Dotn worry about dying too much in level 1, because even if you lose souls there it wont affect you at all really. Just use level 1-1 to get to grips with the game and how it plays. You WILL die, alot. And this is something you need to learn early on, dying is part of the game. Its just ingrained into gamers to think that theyre not supposed to die. Stick with it, finish 1-1, maybe play it again a couple of times to farm soem souls and level up, but dont give up. Youll miss out on possibly the best game of the generation.

I started a new character yesterday, a barbarian. Theyre gooseberry fool. Think ill re-roll a priest or soemthing.

Cheers Brer! That explains the message on the floor at the start of 1-1 This is where the real Demons Souls begins.I'll stick with this then, I've put myself through 3 CoDs now on veteran so I can do dying and perseverance.

I've gone with the Knight as he looks a bit like the guy in the intro
