I've only a couple left but i am sure they're not just harder but generally a lot nastier. I haven't died to any due to having so many items and spells but i think i would have otherwise.

I found NG+ much harder than first time around for some reason and gave up at the Armour Spider.

NG+ IS harder than your first game. But NG++ and onwards is generally easier

Yeah I read it would be harder I just thought my Temple Knight wouldn't have so many problems.

It does. Its an unforgiving, bastard sonofawhore of a game, but if you stick with it, itll hook you like no other game.
The first giant boss is meant to kill you, to soften you up to realise that youre going to spend mst of the entire game dying. If you talk to the glowing blue guy in nexus after you die, he points to an archstone and says 'why dont you try one of the archstones?'. So you touch it, go to level 1 and thats where it all begins. Dotn worry about dying too much in level 1, because even if you lose souls there it wont affect you at all really. Just use level 1-1 to get to grips with the game and how it plays. You WILL die, alot. And this is something you need to learn early on, dying is part of the game. Its just ingrained into gamers to think that theyre not supposed to die. Stick with it, finish 1-1, maybe play it again a couple of times to farm soem souls and level up, but dont give up. Youll miss out on possibly the best game of the generation.

I started a new character yesterday, a barbarian. Theyre gooseberry fool. Think ill re-roll a priest or soemthing.

Cheers Brer! That explains the message on the floor at the start of 1-1 This is where the real Demons Souls begins.I'll stick with this then, I've put myself through 3 CoDs now on veteran so I can do dying and perseverance.

I've gone with the Knight as he looks a bit like the guy in the intro

Hell man even i couldnt survive cod on veteran, but ive finished DS about 3 times now, so you should be fine! Knights are a good class, it was the first class i ever used :D

I'm getting into my second now. It really is great isn't it.

Oh yes. Dropped another demon this evening. Still got a long way to go but it's down to finding a time where I can really immerse myself and get a 'feel' for it. It's no pick up n' play title, but what a game it is.

I'm begining to think that starting as a Wanderer wasn't a good choice, however...

That's a tough choice.

I've started another run as a Knight and it is harder without the ranged options, especially magic.

I finished NG+ with my first character at SL 111. I wanted to play with some others but could never find anyone anymore, which may be as people aren't looking to team at that level.

So back to a fresh character now.

Just started playing this and was working my round Boletaria Palace looking for a way out to spend my 4000 souls. As if that flaming dragon was bad enough, I found somewhere I was familiar with only to fall off a ******* cliff!!! :x

Such a good game though but had to switch it off after that death.

Have you defeated the first boss (Phalanx) yet? If you haven't then I strongly suggest you read this spoiler:

You can't spend your souls until you kill the first boss.

Really? Even though I've been to the Nexus? Where's the first boss then?

Behind the big massive doors you see at the start of the level.

So I was in the right zone then? Just need to find a way to open up that gate?

If you got past the bridge with the dragon then you were very close indeed.

Have you considered consulting the Demon Souls Wiki? It's a good substitute for the official player's guide.

Yeah there's a switch later on in that stage.

I feel there's a lack of direction in this game. After finally defeating Phalanx, where do I go from there?

You can go wherever you like. You have just done 1-1, so if you carry on that same level it will be 1-2 that you are starting but that is probably a bit too hard now. Generally the x-1 levels are easier than x-2, so maybe go back to the nexus and then try 2-1 or 3-1. Actually 3-1 is pretty good for finding equiptment so that'd be a good one to do next.

Remembering running like the clappers across that battlement with a huge dragon breathing flames down on me still makes my arse clench up now.

Doesn't help that I chose a knight and he runs out breath after about 10 seconds of 'running'.

Also bought some spells which I probably can't use. :x

I chose a Temple Knight my first time, got stuck on the power banana split Maneater. So started again last week as a Royal. Finding it a lot easier and more enjoyable.

I'm after some sword called Crescent Falchion or something, it's in 4-1 right?

Royal is the correct way.

Do none of the other classes have any value then?

I started as a Wanderer. Probably not the best choice.
