Pretty sure that was the only time it managed to get me too. (Unlike his counterpart at the top of steps who killed me LOADS.) It's actually thanks to that mob that I realised just how useful the shove move is.
Well I had planned to wait to get this till after Christmas, buy with Boris continuing to be the biggest useless strawberry floating banana split in existence I think my emotional state might benefit from just giving myself a treat.
I looked on PSN and even in anticipation of receiving vouchers for Christmas I strawberry floating refuse to pay £70 for a digital game.
Does anyone know the absolute cheapest way to get this right now? So far a physical copy from Currys seems best, which will also give me the option of trading in afterwards.
Amazon or Currys. Personal I'd go currys and click and collect as you'll have it on Monday when you collect it. Unless you want to pay a lot for a fast Amazon delivery.
Even at £70 it's worth it. A truly special game and one which just feels brilliant to play.
Went back to this after a wee break to do other things.
Finally pushed through and finished 5-1. Got to Leechmonger and managed to beat him first time. Not a particularly hard or imaginative boss, but glad to be past him none the less.
Started on the -2 levels and went back to Stonefang. Somehow made it to Flamelurker in 10 minutes and promptly got beasted. Might explore the rest of the level first I think.

Is this your first time playing the game? Definitely explore before flamelurker, if only to make runs to him quicker (you'll be able to sprint from the spider stone to him in minutes once you get the route down).

Yeah first time through it.
I think I discovered the quick route to him straight away to be honest. Went right at the start of the level, then worked my way down a large pit which took me pretty much straight to the fog door.
Got the Platinum last night and thoroughly loved almost every minute. Massive regret for not properly rinsing the original I imported way back when as it would have been immense to see the impact of the upgrade on every world - I’m sure I only did a couple of levels on the original before being distracted by something else.
Finally got my Christmas Present, Holy strawberry float its gorgeous. Visuals alone make me really excited to explore, the lighting feels next gen. Beautiful, and delighted to own a PS5 to play it.
Having never really played Dark Souls and missed this originally are there any mechanics I should know off the bat? Bloodbourne only really clicked with me when I followed a guide and really keen to get to know this well.
Stamina is more important than you might initially think: you use stamina to attack, to sprint, to roll dodge, and to block. Running out of stamina is a good way to end up dead.
To that end, stamina regens super slowly when you have your shield up, and a huge noob trap is people shielding too much, then having their guard blown open because they didn't have the stamina to block the next hit.

Also, when you die in body form you go to Soul form. You lose 50% of your health, but you can no longer be invaded, and World Tendency is harder to go down. I could write an essay on what the tendencies do in this game and it'll still be obtuse, but the tl;dr is when you die in body form it turns blacker, when you kill bosses it turns whiter. White makes enemies weaker, black harder, but they drop more stuff.
Because it's easier to go from white to black than black to white (due to limited ways to raise it) you'll want to play the game in soul form most often. This also prevents you from being invaded by players looking for PvP. Killing yourself in the Nexus is a safe way to lose your body without affecting anything. Obviously if you feel you need the extra body form HP it's your call, just remember it can be risky.
---------------------
Also there's no set progression in this game. You HAVE to beat an entire world to enter 1-3, but otherwise you can go through them in whatever order you want. Some are obviously harder than others, but some also give different tools that make the hard ones easy. Like X is the magic place, which let's you do Y a lot easier, but Y gives a blunt weapon to make Z easier in general.
If something seems too hard, feel free to try somewhere else. You might just need better tools. Like a basic sword sucks against things made of rock or bone, but a club ruins their day.
Otherwise just keep calm and keep an eye open. The game sometimes feels bullshit, but outside of things like the enemies being able to attack through walls sometimes (Which tbf is bullshit when you're not ready for it) it's harsh but fair. It's all about how well you learn each encounter.
When you kill a boss you automatically get your body back. There are also items called Stones of Ephemeral Eyes which revive you. They're a bit of a hassle to get sometimes, but they are technically infinite.
The main deal with World Tendency is that it just changes the world in some way. Characters themselves aren't usually affected, but outside of enemies getting stronger/weaker it'll change things like "this gate is only open on pure white" or "This special enemy or item only spawns on pure black".
There is also Character Tendency which is more or less your morality. If you help characters do their side quests it goes white, if you screw them over or attack them it goes down. This gives a little HP buff in soul form at white, and at black makes you stronger as an invader. On a standard first playthrough without min maxing for invasions you can pretty much just ignore character tendency.
