It'd be a really enjoyable fight if he wasn't such a damage sponge but, as it is, it's so drawn out to the point I'm finding it boring.

Have I strawberry floated up somewhere or does he have a weakness I've missed? I think he's the only boss I've got left now.

I struggled with him but there is a very easy way of beating him.

Equip the theif ring, a magic power up or regen ring and the poison spell.

At the start of the battle just stand when he has walked away. Walk up the stairs and stop at the top of them. Lock onto him and cast the poison spell. He will take damage but just stand their. Cast it again. And again etc. It takes ages depending on your magic level. Make sure you bring some/lords of mp recovery stuff and it's the easiest fight in the game.

Also once that's done, it's pretty much a straight run to new game plus. So do everything before beating him. Collect and upgrade. Grind and also get the dark tendancy hidden demon souls things from each world as you'll need them for upgrades.

Thanks for this! I was struggling to kill him, and the boss run was putting me off retrying. I'll give it a go tonight.

It takes ages, just make sure you have the energy ring and loads of mp regen items.

You can also use the same technique for the other old king in 1.1 but I've not tried that yet.

Wish my image sig would work

There's a shortcut that lets you skip the whole bridge section with the dragon and fat officials.

Just killed that boss first try I found it piss easy like the rest of the bosses, are your weapons upgraded?

Loved this game, the pretty much zero load times just keeps you in the game along with the small amount of cut scenes. I feel like replaying bloodborne now but I'll hold out in hope of a ps5 patch.

I used a similar technique for the old king, and the black phantom in 3-1.

Ran up, used a 'Death Cloud' and ran away to a safe distance. Stood back and waited! Basically farted them to death! :slol:

It didn't seem to work on Allant though.

Spent well over 2 hours getting to this strawberry floater  Those grim reaper strawberry floats and their alienesque summons (specifically the 2nd and 3rd reapers) :x And that strawberry floating trap they lay on with the two Crescent Moon herbs :x :fp:  Then I teamed with a rando and got his HP down to about 60% and then I copped it. Didn't have the heart to try again but I also didn't want to give up on 50-60k souls! And so called in the cavalry. Cheers Maf!

You can't tell, but his character looks really nice decked out in their gear. And then there's me. I look something that crawled out of a Boletarian gutter ffs

Yeah I've opened that. It's the 2nd red-eyed knight on the stairs that tends to catch me out. And just the time it takes and the 6 other enemies to take out.

Did you wear the thief's ring? The boss is blind, so wearing that makes the fight a piece of cake.

:o I had no idea. I did have it on though as that's what I used to avoid those flying ray strawberry floats and their green projectile shards.

2nd playthrough done. Tempted to do another strength character but this time levelling up a decent bow as well since I actually have a ranged attack.

Gone right back to the start to work out my frustration and managed to open some doors I hadn't realised I'd found the keys for!

False idol down. Tower of latria is such a great environment.

Did False Idol yesterday. I did love the prison as a location, but strawberry float those Mindflayers. lol

I moved onto 2-1 after that and I've managed to get to the boss there. Not beaten it yet, but I think that'll be for tomorrow night.

It's interesting seeing the order other people are playing the stages. I went:

1-1
1-2
2-1
3-1
3-2
3-3
2-2
2-3
4-1
4-2
4-3
5-1
5-2
5-3
1-3
1-4

I'm a bit confused by the order you're supposed to do the levels in really. I've done 1-1, 1-2, 1-3, 2-1, 2-2, 2-3, and 4-1 so far. I haven't even entered the third or fifth archstones yet but I feel a bit overlevelled, I didn't have much trouble with either Flamelurker or Penetrator (although the NPC that helped with Penetrator actually landed the killing below  )

I'm going to attempt to beat Old King Allant without cheesing but I'm going to go back to the mines first to get sharpstone for my flamberge. I'm assuming I'm right at the end now and this bastard is the first time I've become properly stuck. It's just the fact that I only deal just over 100 damage per hit which is barely anything against him.

Old King Allant is finally strawberry floating dead :msgreen:

EDIT - And done. I'm really keen to play it a second time but I think I'll play some of my other new games first. Not sure where I'd rank it against Bloodborne and Sekiro but it was very good.

I beat the game last night too. Loved it. Definitely felt the easiest Souls game I've played, but that's no doubt due to me playing Royalty/Magic build.

:fp: Got mullered by scrub mobs a little ways off from what I assume to be Allant's place. The strawberry floating shame of it. (I was just scoping the area out. Still got two other areas untouched before I take him on.)

Maneater, old monk and leechmonger down. A productive evening.

I might try for the platinum on this, it seems like it may be dooable over a few spaced out playthroughs.
