The difference was stark when I first tried it, but then I got used it and it felt even more palatable when I switched on motion blur. But I've gone back to 1440p60 as it's so butery smooth. Kept the motion blur at half though; no motion blur just looks wrong.

Wedgie wrote:If you can’t get on with Bloodborne, then I would say to hold off until it drops in price. Apparently Bloodborne is the easier one of the Souls type games.

That’s why I’m very wary of dropping £70 on this. I’m hopeless in Bloodborne.

Assuming this is a reply to me (apologies if it was just a PSA), it was not the difficulty, more I struggled to parse the level layouts. I got completely lost in the level after defeating Rom the Vacuous Spider. Just had no idea where I was supposed to be going. It needed a mini map and POIs everywhere. Hopefully Ubisoft will do the next remaster :capnscotty:

Really annoyed at the black tendency!

]In the storms archstone, have died enough to get black tendency and this knob with a katana has spawned at the start and comes right for me! What's worse is that when I chip his health slowly down he goes and heals! I can't carry on with that world until he is gone. Need to get stronger.

I beat the phalanx and tower night yesterday, I think the fights took about half an hour each

Phalanx in particular, I wasn't really ready for the fight, so very quickly ran out of fire spells and buffs. My sword was doing 1 damage against the shields as I couldn't get around to the weak points. Luckily I managed to open the menu mid fight ( :dread: ) and swap to another I had on me which had thrust damage, which helped.

Tower night wasn't really much of a tough fight, but I was out of healing items pretty quickly and kept getting caught out by the odd attack which would stun me and then I'd take big damage.

Both fights were made all the more tense as I'd been through the entire levels so far to get to them and didn't want to lose all my stuff. Did both first go but it was shaky hand stuff.

Looks so bloody good .

I discovered that world tendency only changes when you die in human form. So whenever you beat a boss and turn human, return to the Nexus and kill yourself there

Unfortunately I only found this out after dying once or twice, so haven't managed to get world 1 to white yet.

Yeah, general gist is that you beat the boss, instantly kill yourself in the Nexus, then carry on. Get to Pure White, then work backwards from there.

Luckily there are ways to shift it towards White without killing bosses: Killing invaders pushes it to white; if you're dark enough special giant maggot like enemies spawn that push you heavily towards White (once per world per NG cycle); kill specific named black phantoms that spawn at pure black tendencies.

For World 1 specifically you can kill the dragons for a white boost, too.

I dunno if the remake has added or changed anything, though, but by all accounts it's accurate enough that these should hold true.

God I love this game! I beat the 3-1 boss on the forth attempt! Had her down to a slither every time, and was so distraught each time I died. But it just made it so much sweeter when I got the kill!

I think when I finally grab a PS5 I'll go for a full tanky Tower Knight build. Full immovable object with the scraping spear just for maximum annoyance. Been a medium knight originally, then a speedy boi, so feel like slowing things down a bit.

Just went to play Demon Souls again only to find it has uninstalled itself. :fp:

It seems the issue is that when I first installed it, I pressed copy before it did it automatically and it came up with an error. I did the same thing with Assassin's Creed, so I'm expecting the need to install that again after I've played it once.

Making some good progress with this today. Killed a few bosses and levelled up a few times. I had a few very tense moments running from a terrible situation and ending up in a boss room.

I've now got the lava bow and a good sword. I'm really enjoying the game the challenge of it.

Got to flamelurker tonight, so so difficult, I think I landed one hit total before getting battered.

I'm on the final straight. Just two bosses to go.

Wow, this is incredible! There's no other feeling like exploring a Souls game for the first time, not knowing what to expect.

The crunch of that riposte :datass:

Got to get on with work now but my next stop is to head through a large fog gate, from which was thrown a giant spear. I'm scared... :dread:

btw there's a magic spell you can get that coats you in water and reduces fire damage and ti helps a lot for that fight. There's a flame-resistance ring somewhere too but I can't remember where you get that.

Flame luker I used the purple fire proof shield, flame resistance ring and a sword with magic damage. Hold up your shield. Let him jump. Run in and hit a few times. Back off. Keep shield up and you'll be fine.

I have the water spell and ring, just I haven't been putting any souls in to vitality or stamina yet, and I'm still carrying my starter shield and armour (magician). Probably need to seek out a few more protective items to help.

It doesn't help that it's an assault on you, and it's easy to panic. Just need to stop worrying, observe the patterns and work it out from there.

He's also an absolute idiot and you can get him stuck behind geometry and there's nothing he can do.

This feels harder than the other souls games, dunno if it’s just me. I remember when Dark Souls came out it was pitched like they’ve made it even harder, but you’re not tripping over bonfires in this, and when you do hit an arch stone, they don’t instantly replenish you for some speed grinding.

It also seems like certain builds can just be strawberry floated in some scenarios. Phalanx is a piece of cake with soul arrow but if I was a different class it would have been a tough job to get at the core. And I’m not sure how you’d even deal with the dragons if you were 100% melee.

Finally beaten 3-1 after running around like an idiot for a very very long time. Killed the boss by hiding and using the bow.

Magnificent game with the first area 1-1,1-2,1-3, currently being my favourite. Lots of natural light, lots of hidden areas and dragons.

Just seen a speed runner on YouTube has beaten the game in just over 30 minutes. Crazy how good some people are at this.
