On the flip side, I really don't feel like talking to anyone about my depression anymore, I don't feel like it helps.

This past 6 months has just made me realise how awful people are.

Before I was with my mentally ill ex I was quite optimistic, I believed people were good deep down, but my ex would always say stuff like "People don't care about your problems" in regards to her friends and I was like "no no they do"

But strawberry float man, between people acting like entitled children around Corona virus and me opening up to people at work about my mental health and them just not giving a gooseberry fool unless it affects them directly... People are garbage.

We absolutely deserve all the gooseberry fool that's happened this year.

I actually think people are about 50 50 but it's not always who you expect to be kind who is kind or who you think is nasty that ends up being nasty.

A few years back I was crossing the road where there are tram tracks and I had an epileptic vacancy and came crashing down on my face and hands, Id hit my head and was just laying there suddenly I see school children walking up the road with posh well to do well dressed teachers and they just walk past me twitching and bleeding which I think gooseberry fool this is bad on a lot of levels there walking kids past an informed person which might upset them and b there indirectly teaching them to ignore suffering.. a moment later the chavest chav ever rides up to me on a bike and I think oh great I'm going to get mugged now while I'm out of it, nope he offers to help me get up, watches me get out of the road asks me if I'm ok and offers to get me a drink or something from the asda which is close....

You can just never tell what your going to get so you need to be thankfully when it's unexpected kindness and try not to focus to long on the bad.

If people are 50/50 I'm incredibly unlucky

Also it's not that people are overtly bad, they're indifferent really, but that's almost worse, feeling like you're invisible is just the worst feeling in the world.

It's like screaming into a void.

Been pretty gooseberry fool this past few days, I was doing well for weeks and I think that's what's worst, when depression/anxiety suddenly hits you in the face one day for "no reason" and you just have to acknowledge it and try to supplant the symptoms. Shakes, low energy, nausea, confusion, and for me loss of motor co-ordination and it being painful/draining to just do basic gooseberry fool like fill/carry mugs, operate the most basic devices etc

Need to get my adult social care grant sorted out.

This all started after a Chinese on Monday with me being sick for 6 hours and me wondering why, called in work sick for the first time ever in my current job saying I wouldn't be in for the rest of the week, then feeling worse and worse Friday at 5:50 i admired myself to my local accident and emergencies department and now I'm on a ward having IV's and stuff the pain is unreal and it's driving me crazy apparently they want to calm the pancreas down then chop the gullblader out but have given me no time frame on anything I was on a temp ward till 11.15 last night , they've also tested me for covid-19 which I'm waiting for the results of now ... Work want me to call from hospital Sunday to tell them when I'll qbe back

You may be in for a while, hospitals take time with everything. I've had a number of stays in hospital and the best thing you can do is just be patient. Work can wait, you're ill and your health is way more important.

Tell the nurses you're in a lot of pain. Maybe they can give you something to help ease it till they get round to doing something.

The nurses have been fantastic , I love the NHS I think I've interacted with about 30 and 29 were the most amazing people, just one was a bit grouchy my other half a coming to drop me a bag off with stuff in but is not allowed to stay but at least I'll see her for a moment and have things to try and concentrate on, I'm also now in a quiet little side room so think sleeping will be more likely . Its looking up a bit but when my pain was at it's worst it wasn't nice

Sounds gooseberry fool, what are you getting for the pain? Get the IV morpheen if you can, oramorph is pretty good, I've been prescribed it for kidney stones.

I just can't concentrate on anything when I get it bad.

I literally just spent like 4 days flicking between YouTube videos, didn't have the mental capacity for anything else.

During some of my worst spells I just watched the same anime on Netflix for 3 days.

I definitely recommend avoiding the Internet entirely though. Getting rid of my smartphone (or rather, it getting so broken it was unusable anyway, and not buying another one and going SIM-only) was probably one of the best things I ever did.

I'd recommend generally disconnecting from the news as well if possible. I've been doing my best to avoid the news the last week or so, particularly anything Covid or Brexit related (though the former is rather more difficult) and it has definitely improved my mental health.
That includes the threads on those topics here.

I'd agree with the idea of taking a break from news and social media channels in order to manage your mindset. In today's society we have a pretty much constant stream of information being flung at us and, generally, it's "bad stuff" that gets most shared. This can lead to one occasionally having a skewed perspective; there are indeed always bad things happening, but there are some good things, too.

Personally I have even continued using my ancient 2G mobile phone rather than getting a smartphone because I just don't want any more information being pushed at me; nor do I want to be tempted to continually check stuff.

Anyhow, I'm sorry to hear that you've been having a rough time, Gecko, and I hope you soon get through it.

Well my gullbladder is out and they've said I might be allowed out at like 9 tonight to go home and to bed, they just want to see me have all my meals and all my stats stay good , apparently my stats are currently in line with a stressed person so I've told them I am a stressed person I suffer from PTSD and anxiety , I hope my stats don't stop me as those will probably not alter for days

Massive low day yesterday. Spent the whole day in bed, doped up on Xanax drifting in and out of consciousness. A large part of this came from my visit to the psychiatrist the day before where we talked and I realised I've simply lost all motivation recently, to do much of anything. She told me she was worried about me and so changed my meds up, but this means stopping one and starting another, meaning I'm essentially going to be completely off any medication for about a month. Also because of a strawberry float up with my medical insurance I can currently only afford to see her once a month which...yeah not good.

Thankfully I'm feeling much better today, a little lightheaded but nothing too bad, so hopefully it was a one off. Not looking forward to the next 30 days however.

Thanks jawa. I use a 2G/3G handset as well.

I'd say it's not so much that all the extraneous information is just bad stuff, it's useless stuff. THe vast majority of the information pushed at us is just utterly useless in our everyday lives, expanding our "circle of concern" out so far that we can't focus on anything that really matters and can make a difference to improving our lives or the lives of others.

Sorry to hear you're struggling taf.

It doesn't help that the news outlets are using covid as perfect news 'conversation starter', meaning something say about a dog walker, now is a dog walker in these uncertain covid times. It's just a constant reminder when most of the time completely unessasary. Just all round bad for keeping a neutral mental state.

Feel conflicted been told I need 6 weeks off work with a heavy degree of bed rest to get back to ok health , feel a bit guilty how reliant that's going to make me on others and worried what my coworkers will think of me

What other people think doesn't matter. What matters is that you get better and back on your feet! Like I've said before, health before work. If your coworkers dont like that, that's their problem. There's no reason to feel guilty either, you've been in hospital and I'm sure the people in your life will be happy to help you. I never felt well leaving hospital but I always felt better being in my own bed when I've got home, it does you wonders!
