Don't take this the wrong way, but with 250 hours logged I know where to get enhancement cores! ;)

The problem is that even with all the places you can get them, the amounts needed to continue using the gear you like after a level raise is excessive. I get that the idea is to force you into using different guns, to experiment, but at this point I have a set of favourites that I'm quite happy with so when my latest Prime Engram drops yet another Crooked Fang it's a little annoying!

New story content this weekend! There's a new activity in the Gambit director which triggers a new story mission and Xur has his bounties now, called Favours of the Nine (or something like that). I'm excited!

EDIT: Did the story stuff. Probably the most interesting the story in Destiny has ever been outside of the raids or the grimoire. Really got me interested now.

New patch has been datamined. The new expansion is set on the moon and it looks like cross save is coming.

Yup. Unsure how I feel about them returning to the single expansion model really, I suppose it depends what it adds.

I don't think it's them necessarily returning to the model. As far as I'm aware, they were always going to have a "proper" expansion in the September, as it's pretty much tradition (Taken King started Destiny Y2 and then Rise of Iron started Y3).

The Annual Pass was created to keep things ticking over between these big content drops. Between the Taken King dropping in September 2016 and very small free content drop in April 2017, there was almost nothing.

This is true.

To be honest I've almost completely dropped away from the game since the implosion of my clan. I can't be bothered finding another one and going back to playing solo holds no appeal. I'll probably try the menagerie as it's getting great reviews but I can't see myself getting back to it any time soon.

I guess that's the last thing they did with the help of Vicarious Visions and High Moon, will be interesting to see how Bungie get on without them :dread:

Jason Schreier on ResetEra posted saying that getting away from Activision means they can now stop doing the big yearly expansions (which was what Activision wanted) and will be concentrating on doing more of a games-as-a-service thing with seasonal content drops. Not sure I like the sound of that.

Apparently Engadget jumped the gun and quickly took down an article mentioning the year 1 stuff is going free-to-play.

It sounded like Activison had a completely arbitrary "You must release something at these times, no matter what!" thing going on, which led to the wet fart that was Osiris and the disappointing Warmind. At least now Bungie can make their own schedule based around actual content development cycles.

The seasons this year (mainly because of awful Driftr) have been very underwhelming.

It's been shite and basically killed the interest the majority of my clan had in the game. It's just mostly the hardcore no-lifers that have stuck with it since a few months after Forsaken.

I pop on every now and then before realising how much grinding I have to do to level up by infusing my gear.

That article also mentions that there'll be no PS4 cross save, shock horror.

Bkacj Armory wasn't bad and had a raid (and there was still some ongoing glacial plot threads in Forsaken)

Drifter had nothing though

Yeah I didn't mind the Black Armory. The main drawback was the fact that unlocking the forges wasn't across all your characters.

They were also a little too reliant on making quest steps unnecessarily grindy. They said in advance that a lot of it would be reusing stuff they'd already made (they said no new cutscenes, strikes or proper missions) but they could have added more interesting steps than just doing something tonnes of times.

But yeah, BA was okay. The raid helps a lot as it was good and a manageable size. My interest dwindled with the Drifter season, though that's largely because my clan really love crucible and just go into competitive. For me the game isn't quite engrossing enough in PVP for me to care that much. I actually like Gambit and Gambit Prime but the rest of them just ended up going in Crucible all the time.

Haven't actually loaded it up again yet, as I've been playing the ESO expansion that released a day earlier.

Details from the early Engadget article which was taken down, official stream at 6pm -

Big changes are coming to Destiny 2. With today's announcement of Destiny 2: Shadowkeep, developer Bungie has a new way to deliver content to its players. When the major expansion lands on on September 17th, the core game will go free-to-play, shifting to "expansion-level, standalone content" for Destinyveterans.

Details of the plot are scarce, but thanks to early leaks we know that Shadowkeep will require Guardians to return to the moon to "journey deep into a mysterious enemy citadel" and "become a slayer of nightmares." Bungie also says that it will feature the return of an old ally.

With the move to free-to-play, the core game will be called Destiny 2: New Lightand will feature all year one content, including "foundational modes, activities and rewards."

This represents a change for the Destiny franchise as it seeks to lure gamers away from popular free titles like Fortnite. Previously, players paid upfront for the game and bought big expansions to gain access to new raids, missions and in-game items, either separately or as an annual pass subscription. Now, the core game will stay free, while additional content will be made available in the form of paid "à la carte" offerings like Shadowkeep.

With a rocky start and declining engagement in the face of its more popular competitors, Destiny 2 has been struggling to win back players. It was made available through PS Plus and the base game was even given away for free on PC last year, although only for a short time. One issue the new update aims to address is the requirement for players to have bought older expansions in order to access newer content. That's no longer the case.

The update will also bring more comprehensive cross-platform support to the game. A new cross-save feature allows players to access the same characters from their primary account on different platforms, though for now this is only for Xbox and PC, not PS4. In addition, Bungie says there will be no more platform-exclusive weapons, armor, maps or activities.

If the idea of cloud gaming interests you, particularly Google's new Stadia service, Bungie has some good news. The game will also debut on Google's cloud gaming platform, which is due to launch in November. If you don't have access to a high-end PC, you'll be able to play Destiny 2 through Google Chrome.

Following its split with Activision, Bungie has had to find a new store for its shooter. PC gamers will be pleased to note that Destiny 2 will soon be available on Steam, and can migrate their progress and purchases over for free.

So yeah, this does seem fairly extensive.

https://www.twitch.tv/bungie

Sounds like they're starting the regear of the whole game into a proper MMO RPG.

New expansion trailer

twitter.com/DestinyTheGame/status/1136669866478358528

Live stream is on now. Cross save on all platforms, must have been a last minute thing or something since it said on the Stadia stream that it was still pending Sony's decision.

Base game is free and called Destiny 2: New Light

The new expansion, Shadow Keep won't require owning previous DLC to play and the upcoming paid seasonal content can be purchased separately

No more PS4 timed-exclusive content

PC version coming to Steam, all previously owned content from Battle.net version transfers over.

Previous bosses in the series have been resurrected on the moon (saw Crota and Skolas)

So from the (confusing) store pages it looks like they're ditching the annual pass...and replacing with season passes?
That you can dip in and out of.

e.g. in current terms you could buy Season of Opulance without having Black Armory/Drifter
