I am fine with them adding to Destiny 2, seeing as the move from D1 (which they borked, then gloriously saved and made something special) basically just reset everything. They then borked and had to gloriously save D2 again.

My only problem with keeping the same base game and expanding on that is that it becomes incredibly bloated and flabby. We have already seen it with the number of different currencies and upgrade systems on offer. We also see it in the game's sheer size and how long it can take to load.

Bungie have said that they are going to work on this by making seasonabl content actually seasonal and disappear. So in the future, stuff like the Black Armory, Menagerie and Vex Offensive will only be around for the ten weeks in which their seasons occur.

In theory I'm fine with this, as a lot of the activities fill the same sort of "horde mode" niche. It's a shame for players who lapse occasionally though (I missed a lot of the Drifter and Opulence seasons).

They could probably copy the ESO model - have four seasons of smaller content like those aforementioned horde modes and then a "chapter" each year where they do a planet and campaign missions.

The only thing is, there were a lot of rumours about D3 being in the works and what it would have. Wonder if they will roll that in to D3, scrap it or push on.

I would reiterate to any lapsed players though, that Destiny is probably at the best it's ever been. It's probably back to the Taken King era which was the first game's high point. Forsaken arguably surpassed that and they've added more stuff since then.

And I'm really enjoying PVP at the moment. Got Recluse yesterday and going to try and get Luna's and the Mountaintop before my Fabled rank resets.

Yeah, I need to work on Luna's (which I thought I had but turns out I don't!) but the new stuff is dragging me away... Nightmare Hunts and trying to grab the Vex Invasion weapons while I can.

Do we have an end date for this season? I've seen the end of November mentioned but no actual dates.

And I agree with Hexx: Recluse is a beast. It's my go-to for both PvP and pve these days.

The end date should be on the Season Pass screen, think there are about 46 days left?

The last two years the DLC/new season has dropped around December 4th, though Shadowkeep was delayed and about three weeks later than the Septemberauncjes in previous years.

I'm up to lvl 47 now so I miiiiight be in with a chance of maxxing it out by the end of the season. I wants me that full set of Vex armour ornaments! The more I play the more I realise how big a shift the season pass levelling system has been and how much it's transformed the way I play. I now never do any activity without the associated bounties (including the random quests which was an excellent idea) and it means I'm constantly changing the way I play/the activities I'm doing. The two, the pass and the bounty system, work together incredibly well.

Saying that, the two new activities that came with Shadowkeep and Season of the Undying, namely Nightmare Hunts and the Vex Offensives are straight trash. Hunts are old Destiny 1 strikes with tons of bullet sponge enemies that are simply not fun to fight, and the Vex Offensive is one bad map and a shitload of Vex repeated ad infinitum. Neither are anywhere near even the weakest of the previous season's additions (the Reckoning) in terms of content or originality.

Forsaken saved destiny 2 from the trash storm that was the Original D2 campaign and Curse of Osiris, Warmind made D2 better but Forsaken was the light in the dark.

It was. A prelude to the new dungeon and activity that opened up this week, the latter of which is a 6 man (I think) Blind Well/Escalation Protocol-esque event which sounds cool.

I jumped in after the release of Forsaken but some of the horror stories people tell of the game before it are almost unbelievable. Every shotgun classed as a heavy weapon? No random rolls at all on guns? Literally no endgame? It sounded atrocious, especially after D1 ended in such a good spot. It was so bad it killed the GR clan I believe.

But yeah, it's excellent now. Shadowkeep wasn't as revolutionary as Forsaken but stuff like Armour 2.0 and the revamped upgrade stuff has done nothing but improve the game. And the Moon is great, if a little unoriginal.

The Festival of the Lost stuff is ok so far. Seeing the Candy collectable turn every single enemy in the game into a pinata is entertaining but nothing is ever going to get me to like the Infinite Garden tileset. And I got a Shaxx mask so I'm happy.

Snipers and shotguns were moved to the heavy slot, meaning barely anyone used them due to the low drop rate of heavy ammo
Machine guns were removed from the game because???? They only came back after the Thunderbird quest last year.
No armour or weapon mods
No daily stuff
No catalysts
No random rolls
Exotics drop rate was ridiculously high
Individual strikes weren't selectable from the director, there was only a random playlist
Crucible modes weren't selectable, they were all chucked in on one random playlist
No way of replaying story missions you wanted, just a selection of random ones from Ikora
Nightfalls had a 20 minute time limit
They changed the crucible team numbers which lead to everyone just roaming around in one big team
Super and ability regeneration was really slow
Xur's inventory was the exotics that got to choose from in the campaign for free anyway
Raid launched too soon and looked like an absolute nightmare due to the power level, it was grim watching people play it no stop for 24 hours
Bungie kept bringing the servers offline for maintenance during late afternoons/evenings UK time that often overran till late night
Some idiot decided Blackout and Brawler modifiers would be a combo for strikes
Exodus Crash strike was removed from rotation because the final encounter was awful, especially with the above modifier active. People just quit at the start
Factions weren't present at launch, they were rotated in and out every few months for the Faction Rally "event" where you could grind for reskinned gear

There's probably more I'm forgetting.

Amazing how far they've come. That gunshot wound to the foot is almost entirely healed.

I used to have about 10 people on my friend's list who played Destiny. Now I only see Maf, Dinoric and Akai. So they definitely did more damage to their brand than they'd like to admit.

I've moved onto Borderlands, takes less time, rewards you more frequently, has better gear and doesn't take the piss with micro transactions.

But yeah I know a few who are ‘back’ but not all and old raid team is gone. Even Nightfalls etc I end up using app to MM (thanks for tip Maf)

Yeah, I use the Bungie fireteam finder for complicated exotic missions and the like (Nightfalls now have matchmaking, thankfully), though I've not tried raiding with an ad hoc group. Don't fancy going on mic with a bunch of randos, having to quit 4 hours into a raid because someone drops a slur.

I'd love to get a clan going on here but I think most of youse lot are PS4 plebs.

Only thing they were good for was the Sunshot and Graviton Lance catalysts. The Sunshot with that catalyst is one of the best exotics ever.

Can't see me playing this consistently for long. The new progression basically being bounty grinds with the seasonal and artefact rank getting reset every season will get really old.
