No idea. They usually leave live events for season's end but who knows?

Igneous Hammer, the Trials Hand Cannon, is the 3 win reward this week. Which means if you grab the End Game bounty you can grab one by completing 10 matches.

I suicided for a while with a bunch of lfg guys and got one on two out of my three characters. One was actually a good roll!

Ha! It's the closest I'll ever get to actually playing Trials. It's a good gun though.

Did the Trials suicide run again, this time for the pulse rifle.

Similar to the HC, got an above average roll and holy gooseberry fool in PvP this thing whips. Just devastating. There's absolutely no way this good a loot set should be hidden behind the shittest mode in the game.

The boo video is worth the price of admission alone.

:simper:

Before we get too deep, here’s a quick list of steps that players will take to convert their armor appearance into Universal Armor Ornaments:

Defeat enemies to earn Synthstrand.
Spend Synthstrand on bounties to earn Synthcord.
Convert Synthcord at the Loom in the Tower into Synthweave.
Use Synthweave to convert an unlocked armor appearance (Legendary quality or lower) from Collections into a Universal Armor Ornament.

Why are they so gooseberry fool at this?

Has to be another weird limitation of their shitty engine. HAS to be, because surely they aren't that clueless?

This is going down about as well as you'd expect.

Utter strawberry floating nonsense.

EDIT: Like, Challenges were a move away from Bounties as Bounties are repetitive and dull. This brings them back in a maaaaassive way. Oh good lord.

Yep, it epitomises the worst of Destiny/live service games and their convolulted, illogical systems. Shame it comes off the back of a lot of goodwill from this season too.

I don't know why games like this keep introducing new currencies and upgrade methods. They could have made transmog cost prisms or, if they wanted to be bastards, ascendent shards. These are desirable materials already in the game, and they could have added more as rewards for next season's challenges, season apss steps, ranking up your reputation rank in the three pillars.

Bounties are just the easiest, lowest effort, most cynical way of getting people to play your game daily. I get that we can likely completely them by playing other things, but redeeming a bounty has never, at any point, felt rewarding.

Obstructive design in full flow here: it's such a convoluted way to earn a capped resource, a resource that at its heart does not affect the general flow of gameplay, that a lot of people are simply going to purchase it with real money.

It's a F2P system in a game many of us have sunk hundreds of dollars into.

While I do think that part of it is creating barriers that can be quickly and easily surmounted with real world cash, I don't think this is the sole reason for their implemented.

I can't remember when the real-world-cash Eververse was implemented, but it wasn't in the first year or so of D1, and that had convicted currencies piled on top of each other and obstuse upgrade systems.

I think part of it is just how the twisted design of MMOs and love services has become the norm. A lot of games of this time do it.

If I'm being optimistic, I would say it's because creating a new currency and upgrade path adds incentive and materials to chase, and new rewards for playing.

I'm more inclined to believe the cynical though, and that's that creating new materials to grind, having upgrades and aesthetics cost a lot of these materials, having enforced rarity and limits are cynical ways to get people playing their game daily. They are easily tacked on to existing content without new stuff needing to be made, and limiting their use and amount artificially extends the length of time people need to play your game.

I think it's those reasons, much more than the F2P/pay to win mechanics creeping in.

It's both. Undoubtedly (in my mind anyway).

The convoluted nature means cheapskates like me will spend hours grinding out synthwank to make my helmet look like a robot face whereas the chad whales will just buy up an entire Collection's worth of ornaments week one. For Bungie, at least during the design of the system, it's win-win.

The problem was: this update has been hyped to hell and back for over year, and has been a requested feature since Destiny 1 vanilla. That's 6 years of expectation building. To answer that with what is, as you say, the very worst of live-service convolutedness is going to be seen as a huge slap in the face for many in the community. And there's no way I can believe Bungie didn't see it coming. They now have the choice of either doing nothing at all, ignore the outcry before gently softening the requirements part-way through next season (as I suspect they'll do), or claim "We've listened to you" and dial the whole thing back before it launches.

What grinds my gears so much about this is that it continues the Bungie cycle of good gooseberry fool followed almost immediately by bad gooseberry fool. Chosen was the best Season the game's ever had. They've never been able to follow up a good season with another good season so I'm fully expecting Season of the Splicer(if the rumours are to be believed) to be utter shite. I genuinely don't know if this is an intentional workflow design of theirs (we don't have the manpower to put all we've got into every season so we'll have alternating on and off seasons) but it's frustrating as all heck.

EDIT: Reading over the TWAB again, the synth stuff isn't even the worst of it for me. Eververse shaders going from 40 dust to 300 dust is straight bullshit. Just a pure money grab.

I've had a good bash this weekend after not doing this season much and done "everything", go to level 54, apart PreSage and one fragment. The rest is just grinding out levels/rep, challenges/doing tickboxes...I'm not sure the 'satisfaction' from slowly clearing tickboxes of activities will last now it's slowing down

Strike/Gambit/Crucible>Battleground>Focus, repeat. The grind (mostly in zero challenge stuff) seems even more obvious - it's the same hamster wheels/maps. All my stuff sun settee so finding new ones has been focus. The difference between a geared/set up character is very obvious

Chasing higher numbers/stats,, because your old stuff has been made arbitrarily 'worse' as they lift the cap for the same content. . The can't get rid of focusing now - because everyone has made such good stuff that the need a way to replace it when it's sunset.

Although I got the Cosmetic Armor for dust. Because that looks pimpin with Shaders :toot:

Yeah, I hated the Guardian Games armour initially but it takes shaders perhaps better than any other set I've seen (apparently Bungie mentioned something about recently updating the tech for it...and it shows).

Literally zero mention of transog in the TWAB :simper:
