Yeah the recent update is stuck at 10% and isn't budging yet.

Ok, first impressions

+It looks pretty fantastic. Best way to describe it is it looks like D1 but with much improved lighting and particle inclusion. Lots of stuff happening on screen
+Gunplay feels as good as ever
+Sound effects of said guns sounds even better

-Such a big minus too, it feels sluggish in 30fps. Maybe coming from Overwatch and Tintanfall hasn't helped but it almost feels ancient in comparison. Really becomes apparent in PvP, it feels like there is a slight delay while moving. I just cannot see why I would want to spend time in the crucible and have this as my MP of choice. Bungie have really missed the boat here.
-Cutscenes. Meh, wish it was all in game. They bring nothing to the table, imo.

Couldn't really get a feel of how different it is to D1 being how little there is in the beta. Tentative would be where I'm at right now.

I always find it quicker if you put your PS4 in rest mode.

I quit playing the first game not long after The Dark Below, so have been looking forward to getting back into Destiny with the sequel. The story mission and strike are both good, although there's not really enough content to make a proper impression. Crucible was fun as always though, and the new Titan Super is very cool.

Does anyone else have a problem with the sprint in the beta though? Sometimes my guardian just wouldn't start sprinting no matter how many times I tried L3. I remember having a similar issue in the original game where sometimes it would seem to get stuck, but I cant remember how I fixed it.

I'm having hard time understanding why anyone would want to spend time in the Crucible.

Done the story missions and the strike and just feels like a better looking Destiny 1 expansion (probably was at one point knowing the development history :slol: )

I'm so over fighting the Cabal and especially the Vex (strawberry float off Hobgoblins), can't believe they haven't introduced a new race or anything.

Will there be anything else new in the Beta? I know they will show the new town, Farm, this Sunday for one hour.

Well, I'd say the majority of the major Destiny forums are down on D2. Frustratingly I feel the same way. Right now, that beta has had the opposite effect than D1's beta.

Far too much emphasis seems to be on the PvP and it's alienating the PvE side of things. Quite frankly it's embarrassing Bungie have had to make the PvP 30fps compared to what's on the market today.

That's been a major problem since day 1. Would have been nice if there was a monthly PvE equivalent of Iron Banner, and then there was stuff like Crimson Doubles and Sparrow racing that was completely focused on PvP. The way they balanced weapons in the first game was a load of gooseberry fool too, nerfing weapons because they were overpowered in PvP meant they were nerfed in PvE too because ???

Story feels much more involved compared to D1, loads more going on... actually felt like a campaign.

Strike was imo also better then any from the first, felt more like a mini raid which I'm all for.

Will definitely be all over this day 1.

I agree on the story mission but wasn't overly impressed with the strike due to the boss. The switch in weapon setup compared to the first, along with the lack of power ammo, meant it didn't feel like the weapons were having much impact on him. I'm not sure on the decision to make all the secondary weapons power weapons, it seems like it's going to have a negative impact on the core gameplay.

Both raids extensively.

Rise of Iron was going in the right direction story wise for sure but more from a cinematic perspective in between missions as opposed to actions wilst playing the missions.

Something a little as seeing familiar AI in the fight just added a little something I felt D1 was missing I guess.

Can't remember if this has been discussed recently, but is there any word on whether raids will be playable with random match making? I really enjoyed what I was able to play of Destiny (campaign and strikes) so a better campaign + access to the raids would make this a definite purchase.

Yes?

Having two primaries seems to be something they've to stop people spamming shotguns and snipers in PvP, and as a result PvE suffers.

One other thing that annoyed me was supers and grenades seem to take way longer to charge compared to the first game. Felt like I was playing with the trickle modifier active.

Do we know if it will support 60fps on PS4 Pro or XB1 X?

Overall I would say I like it, because I like Destiny, but I'm really disappointed with how familiar everything is. The menus, inventory, loading screens, flow in and out of missions/strikes, it all feels like a very incremental upgrade. The changes are so minor (aside from the improved graphics) that I wouldn't have been surprised to see them in a patch or expansion for Destiny 1.

Nope, it's 30fps across the board for consoles.

I don't fancy the beta myself as I'd like to keep it all relatively fresh, but I think that when something like - say, Anthem - is released, then Destiny 2 could be in real trouble of losing a lot of its player base if it ends up feeling very 'stop gap'. The new weapon loadout system in particular feels very unnecessary and a bit of a buzzkill, for starters.

Played quite a bit of this. The crucible seems more balanced (although it has the level you're at disabled). The strike and first mission were decent but it's very sparse. You could easily see everything in an hour. I know it's only a beta but i'd have liked to have seen more.

For the main game - i want more variety and less rinse and repeat. If the crucible remains more balanced and the early destiny loot system is fixed (as everyone says it is) then i'm on board for this.

The gunplay remains majestic.

I think Destiny will really have to up its game with regards to patrol as just doing strikes and raids is just not enough.
If they can make patrol feel alive with plenty of extra stuff to do and small side missions it could be great and I'm sure it won't take all that much effort to have each area have 5 or 6 variations and have each variant have 4 or 5 enemy placements and types and have a weekly reset for each dungeon.
They could have the live team just making new dungeons spread about the patrol maps and this way the people who do pay for the emblems and emotes and stuff will feel like they're really helping to keep the game alive.
