That has to be one of the oddest design choices of the whole game as strikes are such a large part of the endgame grind. Surely there's no technical reason why you can't select the strike you want to play even if it means matchmaking may take a few seconds longer.

Daily story missions being removed was a really odd decision too.

They were probably my favourite things to do. Those ‘Meditations’ just aren’t quite the same.

Haven't done a single one of those since launch week I think. Pointless feature.

I think I tried one, but...are the missions longer? Felt like it was too time consuming considering the reward. Back in D1, legendary shards were king...at least for a while.

Destiny 1 got the whole time sink thing pretty much spot-on. You had stuff that could be done in 10 minutes if you just fancied a quick game during a break, 30 minute strikes you could select and play as a group and the raids that were all different and everyone had a different favourite. Then to top it off you had the weapon and armour grind for the perfect rolls (which I don't think I ever had a god-roll version of anything) for those who liked that sort of thing.
A lot of that was stripped out of Destiny 2 in the quest for simplicity but if you're going to want people to play a game long term you need to give them reasons to do so. I for instance only got the Gjallarhorn about a week before they made it pointless but the fun was in the hunt.

Speaking of time sinks, the Faction Rally stuff you need to do to get the exotic catalyst is one hell of a strawberry floating grind. You need to reach level 50 and the "easiest" way to do it is spending hours grinding public events or lost sectors for 5 or 10 tokens at a time.

Up to level 46 with Future War Cult. Once you have the Sunshot catalyst you have to get 1000 kills to activate it

What clan are you in now m8? Might join it if it’s more active. Seems like it could be thin on the ground here in September.

At level 43 with Dead Orbit, should have it wrapped up before the weekend is over. I like the Renown system and it's nice to have a reason to do Lost Sectors. I would hope in the future they build more systems like this in order to make forgotten aspects of PvE relevant again.

Got thew Sunshot catalyst yesterday afternoon and levelled it up to unlock the masterwork. It's disgustingly good with the increased range and stability.

Good interview new here about what's happening and what's new in Forsaken
https://www.gamesradar.com/destiny-2-fo ... he-future/Cayde is really dead
Campaign is more non-linear
The Dreaming City location has end-game content for solo players that don't raid
Four new strikes (one is PS4-exclusive)
Daily Heroic story missions are returning
Sounds like milestones and strike are getting a bit of a shakeup
Infusing up year 1 gear will be expensive

If you have yet to try out Destiny 2,
a free trial is taking place on the PlayStation network over this coming weekend. Running from Friday 29 June at 8am through until Monday 2 July at 6pm, you can play the game for free. You can start the download now if you want to be ready to play right from the off.
