I've played almost bugger all Cyberpunk because I've been too busy with this

Photek wrote:Ta for the advice, tbh the other 'bounties' on guns and stuff seem so nebulous to me and are even more confusing but I was advised (in here) to do bounties as it's the fastest way to level up. They are Vanguard bounties, I know what the crucible is (and I will check it out), I've no idea what the Gambit is about tbh.

While playing on Saturday, my daughter out of the blue hopped onto my old X1X and loaded up Destiny (I have it hooked up at my desk in the corner to a monitor) and we had a blast doing the strikes and she's absolutely hooked on it and surprisingly got very VERY good at it too. We had a blast doing the strikes but we can't upgrade our bounties as I said.

It's a stunningly beautiful game, genuinely jaw dropping, nearly all the time. I'm kinda hooked on it now which is good, well hooked on it as much as I can be on one game as I still play SoT's, Cyberpunk and others but this is definitely into the rotation.

Where would I find a vanguard strike to deal with the void and/or hive?

Gambit is a PvEvP mode where there's two teams of four and you have to kill enemies to collect and bank the items they drop (motes of light) to summon a boss to kill, and whichever team does this quickest wins. You can bank 5, 10 or 15 motes to send a small, medium or large mini-boss enemy to the other team's game. Every so often one person can go through a portal and invade the other team's game to try and kill them and set back their progress. I don't think any of this is actually explained well in the game.

To find the strikes you need you just need to do the playlist until one comes up.

Bounties are the fastest way to level up your Season Pass, but not your gear.

You should just play as normal until you hit the soft cap of 1200, which is when blues stop dropping higher than the level.

After that you'll be reliant on purples. These will continue to drop higher until 1250. To speed up the process you can do stuff which drops Powerful or Pinnacle Gear. The former being +1 or +2 higher and pinnacle being +5.

I wouldn't worry too much about light level or the season pass though really. Get a feel for the game first, and go through the content.

I think bounties are best when you know you're going into a playlist or activity or on to a planet anyway. I pick up the ones associated with it. Sometimes I'll switch guns or void/solar/arc to optimise getting them, but I don't usually go out of my way to complete them. I don't bother if it's stuff like bows or snipers, and I don't bother doing the ones that involve patrols and the like.

Have you done the four campaigns? New Light on the Cosmodrome, Forsaken starting in the Tangled Shore and Shadowkeep on the Moon, and then finally the newest Europa stuff.

There's also seasonal content with the Hunts ongoing too, though that's more just a little activity, bounties and targeted loot drops rather than anything big so far.

I've done the first mission/quest of New Light, Shadowkeep and Europa so far. It's best to prob stick to 1 campaign tho at a time.

the New Light questline is short and can be done in an hour or so but I definitely recommend doing Forsaken.

Been putting a decent dent into the game lately after a slow start, but kinda feeling a little apathetic about it now. The Dawning was a decent distraction as usual but it’s left a bit of a hole. I’m level 1240.
I feared the worst when they messed with Gambit (again) but it’s not too bad. Shame it’s only a 1 round experience now. The beauty was in the comebacks sometimes.

This will probs be the first season I don't max out the season pass. It's just been poor, tbh.

Beyond Light was excellent, but the Hunt stuff is shite with no real reason to bother charging the damn lure and doing the completely boring hunts themselves. I thought they might change it up throughout the season, mixing in new bosses and tasks, but no. The only thing that's changed is the lore stuff and I can't even be bothered reading up on that. Uldren's back as Crow...dumdumdum, that's it.

What a comedown after the excellent Arrivals :(

The hunts are an excellent way of acquiring powerful gear - I’m up to being allowed to gain 4 pieces a week, with an upgrade available to get pinnacle stuff. Making only 4 hunts was a pretty big misstep though.

Yeah this season hasn't been great and I'm not really bothered with the lore of it all. I'm still not sure how Osiris is involved in it all, I just know Uldren is now the Crow and is basically Spider's slave.

Though as Buff says, the hunts were good for getting upgraded gear. The seasonal weapons were alright too, mostly.

I reckon the Lure wasn't something you actively charged - I generally got it charged by doing the Powerful and Pinnacle stuff in the core activities. This was markedly improved by then buffing the charge rate.

In theory I think it's a good idea. They need to do more with the core playlist, and give people a reason to play them. It needs to be tied to a more engaging seasonal activity though.

The hunts themselves were...meh. Pretty short and uninteresting. You have to remember that they are basically akin to a public event from previous seasons though.

It does show up some of the limits of Bungie's current model. There's only so much you can do with these small scale seasonal events. They can't be too complex as you need to do them solo or with randoms. They are helped if you have an engaging story behind them and some carrots dangled in front of you in terms of grind and loot.

But yeah, it's a noticeable decline from Arrivals. Probably similar to Undying, which was another season released alongside a bigger expansion.

The following season after that, Dawn, was pretty decent, so hoping for something more substantial next. Dawn and Arrivals were the two better efforts, I feel.

Makes people complaining about the Forsaken seasons look stupid now too. I know it's likely impossible to go back to something like that now Bungie are independent but they were much beefier.

My final grind for this season will be to get enough rep with Crow to unlock the ‘high celebrant’ hunt, then I think my activity will probably tail off. Probably.

Ultimately, while next-gen improvements beyond frame-rate are thin on the ground, Destiny 2 on Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 uses the enhanced capabilities of the each machine wisely in delivering a competitive improvement while online. Running the game at 60fps and beyond was previously the preserve of PC and Stadia gamers only, and finally we have it here. With all this considered, it's a great time to jump back into the game - the Beyond Light expansion is well worth checking out, while Bungie clearly has ambitious plans for Destiny 2 in 2021: cross-play across all systems is promised and with high frame-rate performance now available for console users, there's now closer parity with the excellent PC version. We can't wait to see what Bungie has in development with next-gen consoles as the baseline, but in the meantime, the new content and performance boosts gives Destiny 2 a shot in the arm for console gamers.

Oh my strawberry floating gooood Bungie are on one of their little nerfing sprees and this time they’re nerfing sword damage by 15% because they’re “extremely dominant” in PvE with 65% of people using them for the majority of encounters.

Why not just nerf Lament since that’s what everyone is using since Beyond Light. Why are they so bad at this?

but rocket launchers get 30% damage buff :simper: :simper: :simper:

tbh the worst part of that TWAB, and the worst thing I've seen from them in ages, boils down to "in the runup to crossplay people were complaining about the control parity between PC and consoles, that on consoles the guns have too much recoil and on the PC they don't. To remedy this, we're increasing recoil of all weapons for PC players."

I mean...wat

Their reason for removing Crimson Days completely is great too.

“We feel that it’s been missing the mark in terms of quality over the last few years”

HELLO! WHOSE FAULT IS THAT. More content being removed from the game without a replacement.

Also, I see they’re just straight up ripping off Fortnite and Apex with the challenges thing replacing weekly bounties.

The swords (some? Dunno) are crazy-strong though, but again, whose fault is that in the first place?
Reached the cap whereby only pinnacle gear levels me up and the light increase is just such a total jip, still. Infuriating.

I think the constant changing and nerfing of weapons was a huge problem for me.
You'd grind or go through super hard (for me anyway) missions with conditions to get a great weapon only for it to become almost useless.

I never managed to get Black Spindle (I think that's what it was anyway) because I'd get to that stupid room with rock hard enemies and a timer (I think I failed there 3 or 4 times) and if I did get that and it got nerfed I'd be strawberry floating livid.

Looks quite generic from that artwork but if the leaks are true:

...it could involve Calus' daughters group of cabal. These wear blue I think, not purple. Blue!

I do like the Leviathan art design so I'm hoping for something at least more visually engaging than the Wrathborn hunts, which basically had a bit of green goo in places before giving you a generic enemy.

Needs to be more involving than this season though, as it doesn't have the newness of BL to cover for it.

I currently have the score as 2-3 between good and underwhelming seasons (Dawn and Arrivals were good; Undying, Worthy and Hunt barely registering) so they need a good one.

Also do people care *that* much about nerfs? It's a 4 year old live service game. There are going to be nerfs going around until the heat death of the universe, and anyone playing the game knows that swords are pretty much the default heavy option for most users now.

You can't just buff every other heavy weaon as swords absolutely murder everything, so if rockets, grenades and machine guns did too, it would just make us even more reliant on the heavy slot for DPS, and wouldn't get around the problem of players being able to obliterate most things. For me, a sword nerf has been something that was obviously coming for months now. Bungie aren't taking anything away, they are tinkering with the sandbox, something they first started doing in 1934. Doesn't every other game of this type do it? I know ESO does nerfs regularly too. I just don't understand the outrage that cycles round when a weapon gets its damage tweaked. Especially as it only really matters for 1% of content too, as the majority of the game is fairly easy. Even raids, you can be pretty flexible with loadouts.

As for the PC/console recoil, hasn't it been normalised closer to the console side for PC users, so they couldn't just ignore stability? That's what Datto was suggesting, that basically stability had no influence on PC, and that making console recoil behave more like the PC would just make stability irrelevant on consoles too. Again, it's not a change I'm struggling to see the logic behind.

The problem is when they nerf weapons that peeps worked hard to get, as Pete says, or when it's Bungie's sandbox that has led to the prevalence of a certain weapon type as Maf mentioned. Swords are super popular because there's very little alternative in the heavy weapon slot. Rather than try and fix this by improving other weapons and the sandbox itself (the measley 30% launcher upgrade aside) they chose to spoil the good weapons. It's a bizarre philosophy: when people are having too much fun, take that fun away.

Same with the recoil. The game handles perfectly on PC. If this means stability is ignored, then just get rid of the stability stat rather than making it control worse. Their fixes are always negatively skewed rather than positively, taking away and making worse rather than bringing the rest of the game up to meet those aspect that work.

I'm not really "outraged" about the nerfs, but I do think the recoil thing is straight bonkers.
