Makes it cheaper just to go out and buy the Legendary Collection which has everything but the Forsaken season pass (it comes with a base Destiny 2 disc and a code which gives you the DLC and Forsaken), looks like its available for £36.99 from 365games for the next 3 days...

I like how they simplified the Ace of Spades quest not long after I finished it :simper:

Since the last post was so long ago I don't want to resurrect the original Destiny thread so thought I'd post this here.

I'm way behind the curve as I'm only now playing the DLC for Destiny since I gave up on the game in November 2014. I'm starting to find things a little hard going and was wondering if anybody round here still owned and played the original game and would be up for a spot of jolly co-operation.

Started this today and played a few hours. Having never played D1, and only going off the hype of the game, I jumped in expecting something epic.

My thoughts so far are that it's a bit tedious. Perhaps it's just the early stages but all the missions feel very similar - go somewhere, find something, guard it while waves of enemies attack, destroy main enemy, move on.

I'm generally a solo player for games, but it was nice to have other players around in areas. However, whenever I start a mission, no one is doing it with me. Is this normal? Can I only do this if I'm playing with friends in a clan? If so, do we all need to be at the same level etc to play missions together?

It feels quite rewarding how you regularly power up and get new weapons and armour, but I'm not sure if this will be enough to keep me going. I think I was expecting more of a story driven, choice making, Fallout-esque experience, but as more of a space based MMO.

Is it the PVP/coop raids that are the main draw over the campaign?

It's definitely not anything like Fallout. The story mission objectives generally just involve shooting a lot of stuff. They are decent but they aren't very complex. It's more about the guns you find and enjoy shootong, your character class powers and getting better gear.

The strikes are a little bit more complicated and you are in a team of three there. You can matchmake with randoms if you don't have anyone on the Friends List.

Crucible you can solo queue in to, though it's different from the PVE aspect and you'll have better success of you use certain guns and supers.

Gambit as a solo player very much depends on of you get grouped with decent players, though I play it solo sometimes and it's mostly enjoyable.

The raids are the best content, and require teamwork, coordination and communication. They are awesome, but you need six friends to play with. If there aren't enough people here, I would go on a LFG group or on Reddit and see if you can find a clan recruiting.

Also as an aside, from Tuesday the first two DLCs are being bundled with Forsaken, so people with the base game will only need to buy that now.

Thanks Parksey, that makes it a bit clearer - but I have no idea how to access any of those other game types! though I think I've seen the crucible on the planetary map view..?

Is the GRcade clan as obvious as 'GRcade'? I should have some time this afternoon so will give it another go then.

Just to confirm, is whether you do a campaign mission solo or with another random player in the world entirely dependent on whether someone else has also selected to do that mission at that exact same time? Or are the campaigns exclusively played solo (unless in a clan?)?

There's no matchmaking for story missions so you need to invite someone or have them invite you.

The other things will open up on the map as you go through the story, the story is like an introduction to the game, most of the content comes after you've finished it.

As far as I'm aware story campaign missions aren't matchmaking, you don't need to be in a clan to play any of it, but you do need to join up to a Fireteam manually. There are also parts of the story which are single player only anyway (although really not that much of it is that).

Yeah at the start of some story missions you might be in a public spaces so you might see people around you, but they'll disappear as you get funneled from that public space into the story part.

As HSH said, the sorry is pretty introductory content. It'll be quite easy for the most part (though there is a bit of a level jump to get to the final third, which I just needed to grind for on my third character).

If you can't see some stuff in the menu, it is because you haven't finished the story yet. I don't know how it is now Forsaken has released but I remember you got more stuff to do once you'd finished the story. Also now the strokes playlist have a Power level that's quite a bit higher than it was when we only had the base game.

The GRcade clan isn't very active at all now. I know myself and Mafro left it and joined up with others because no-one was playing anymore. If you really want to do a raid you should check out Reddit, or maybe rllmuk where more people post actively about the the game.

Crucible, Gambit, the Vanguard playlists and Strikes should all be in the Director screen (where all the planets are displayed) once you've unlocked them. Pretty sure Crucible is open once you have spoke to Shaxx, which you get directed to do early on at The Farm.

Festival of the Lost has started and it seems pretty decent compared to before. Questline, bounties and there's a spooky version of the Infinite Forest with waves of enemies and it actually has matchmaking.

I'm not sure that I can believe this, but... Destiny 2 brought in more money through the console digital channels than Spider-Man 2, FIFA 19 and Fortnite during September, according to SuperData and reported by Push Square.

I am genuinely surprised at this; more so considering that Spider-Man was Sony's biggest-ever digital launch and FIFA was EA's best-ever digital launch in the franchise history. And beating Fortnite's income? Wow :o .

Presumably a big chunk of that was from the £35 price tag and people also buying the two other expansions in order to play Forsaken.

I'm hoping so anyway. I dread to think of anyone spending money on Eververse. Firstly, because it's all quite unobtrusive and unnecessary now, so it means you're spending money not because it's thrown in your face, but because you have a desire to just piss it away. Secondly, because it's all tat anyway and third, because it's all tat you can get in-game now, as you get Eververse bounties and those Pragmatic Prism thingmys that let you try and get the weekly stuff on offer.

I bet it's people buying the bloody emotes.

Yup, £26. Nabbed it at that price.

Finished Osiris (rubbish) started Warmind (already better).

New details about upcoming seasons:

https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2018/1 ... -paid-dlc/

It's a complicated system they've gone for as an alternative to DLCs, but as the latter simply wasn't working (the first 2 were terrible and ok respectively, Forsaken was excellent but pricey and put a lot of people off) I suppose they had to change things up.

For me, there's simply not enough here to justify the Annual Pass' £30 price tag yet. A wave based game mode, new weapons and...that's it? Pretty stingy. Maybe once the mysterious third season is revealed, and we get to find out whatever Penumbra is about, I'll bite (for a much reduced price no doubt).

Nope, and it looks like there won't be any until Penumbra at the very earliest, so Spring/Summer next year. The lack of Story missions doesn't bother me as they're usually the weakest content in the game, but a new strike would've been nice.

Oh, and don't go googling for info on the later seasons if you want to avoid story spoilers. There's a video doing the rounds that someone found in the code that has a very spoilery title.

For though who don't care it's simple called Uldren is Alive! I haven't watched it but the teaser image is of...yeah. Him.
