My clan and I have been going through the older raids with a view to getting the MMXX title and have a sort of farewell tour of old content before it disappears. This has meant revisiting old stuff like Leviathan and Eater which we haven't done for years, but also finally finishing Spire for the first time (got to the final phase but then got distracted) and attempting Crown .
Just COS final boss to go now before the deadline. I did get finally Anarchy on our final ever Scourge run though. Oof.
Hoping for similar flukey luck with Terrabah on Crown this weekend.
Yeeees! I did the same, albeit with randos, and it felt like a great way to see off the old (lol, "old") content. Hated Spire though, worst raid by a country mile.
Also Anarchy is legit one of the best weapons in the game. Never not fun to use.
I've said this before, but changing the daily reset time from 9am to 6pm GMT to pander to the Americans is one of the dumbest things they've done in the game.
So apparently this wasn't a small event, and was actually much better than the rubbish Almighty crash. Which is... really annoying? Considering it hit at 3am Europe time (I'm only up as a mosquito woke me up 10 minutes ago. I still missed out).
There was a new quest which had you traversing never seen before parts of the Last City before reaching a communal viewing platform. The Traveler began to heal itself, making all gathered Guardians buffed for a while, before the screen cut to black and this played
Servers are now offline until 5pm UK time when Beyond Light launches. All Bungie social channels have blacked out their header images too.
Even watching it recorded gave me chills so seeing it live would have been excellent. Also, the unique emblem is much better than the last live event one. Basically, big all round for us Europe folks.
Yeah I've been complaining on Reddit about the event. It's a bit of a smack in the face, as large swathes of the playerbase were effectively excluded.
I understand Bungie are a American company and maybe need staff in the office and all hands on deck with a live event. I understand they wanted it to be just before the BL launch for dramatic and narrative purposes.
But, really, it's not something that is unavoidable. I could suspend my disbelief and have the event run for the final 24 hours before the servers go offline.
Let's face it, it wouldn't happen the other way round, with America ruled out of participating, so why was it okay that European, Australian, Japanese players etc. all missed out?
I wanted to experience this in-game, as I've been along for the Destiny ride since 2014 and am invested in the story and hyped for the new content. I didn't want to have to just read about it on Polygon.
The developers said they wanted to create "I was there" moments and FOMO with their timed seasons and content. It's a bit annoying to be locked out of an event due to geography and because of a developer decision to cater to a portion of their playerbase.
Benefit of the doubt: the delay strawberry floated everything up and this was originally meant to play out for more people/time zones. Not sure I believe that though as obviously this was going to happen immediately before the weekly reset for the new expansion.
Anyway. I think this is the most excited I've been about Destiny...ever? I started playing after Forsaken hit, and Shadowkeep was...fine but I'd grown away from the game thanks to the lacklustre Season of the Drifter. At this point I'm still fully engaged thanks to the excellent Arrivals and everything they've shown sounds amazing.
Looking forward to attempting my first ever blind raid too.
The game was up and working with no problems when I stuck it on before work a few hours ago. Got the opening cutscene and plonked into the first mission, which was enough of a taster to make me eager to get home.

This is good so far. The campaign is 100% a rehash of Forsaken's structure, but that's fine as it's better than the grindfest that was Shadowkeep. As I'm once again leveling up to the softcap it really becomes apparently how broken the loot pool is for open world activities: I'm relying on shitey old year 1 blues 90% of the time and am unable to use either the season pass or Beyond Light weapons as they're simply replaced immediately with higher level gear (and I'm not wasting all my upgrade cores).
Nice to see the Cosmodrome again though. A real nostalgia hit.
