dont really know if I want to spend 41.99 on this though, so was looking more at forsaken and shadowkeep at 9.99 a pop.

It's still a nightmare to get into.

First off: did you do the New Light quest? I've no idea how it activates but it's a great way to get to know the loop of the game.

Second: the free version is largely unplayable as a viable long term MMO. It's a shell essentially, a loss-leader that demos how great the combat is and leaves you wanting more. I'd absolutely plunk down the tenner for one of the expansions first and deciding if you like it)

I think i did that, i got an exotic gun in the end (riskrunner) which is pretty cool. But after that i got somewhat lost on what to to do, as eveey time i try to activate a quest it pushes dlc in your face (which is understandable)

Do you reckon the season pass is worth it too? In that case i might buy the beyond light dlc + season pass combo, its at 20 ish.. if it entertains me for a month id say its decent value

Beyond Light is a great expansion, but that's coming from someone heavily invested in the world. Europa is great though, the campaign is pretty good and the new Stasis power rips.

The Season pass is deffo worth it if you're getting it with BL. This season the event is huge Strikes with the most enemies at once I've ever seen in the game, and a loop of upgrading and unlocking a way to very specifically tailor the rewards you get from certain engrams.

For £20 I'd say it's a no-brainer if you like what you've seen already.

In the end I went for the Beyond Light + Season Pass combo as it was 28 (I tought it was cheaper lol) in total and expiring today, I imagine the other dlc would eventually get discounted again, so there was no rush....

What do you do with engrams? It is telling me that my engram storage is full, I dont even know what they are :slol: :slol:

They've combined the Hunt's Lure (the Hammer) and Arrival's Prismatic Recaster.

It works really well.

So!

Depends what type of engrams they are. If they're Prime (aka purple with a white centre), go to the Cryptarch in the Tower (he's on the right as you warp in). He'll give you a piece of high light-level equipment for every one you bring him

If they're purple and black, those are Umbral engrams and are related to this Season's gameplay loop (there's a tutorial for them when you start)

EDIT: You can see your engram storage by going into your inventory. It's on the right (you can store 10 I believe)

EDIT: Good beginners guide here:

It's bloody confusing at first though, and that's from someone who's been playing Destiny for seven years and did those two seasons your mentioned.

It's pretty convoluted, with various steps needing to be grinding and upgraded. It will presumably get much quicker later on in the season as you play more, but at first there are a lot of vendor screens with upgrades and quite a few currency or spendable resources.

Oh yeah. Bungie have never learned how to onboard, for anything, and the start of this season is strawberry floating terrible. See previous pages where I thought I'd locked myself out of the quest to start the season on my main.

BUT once it's all settled it's actually pretty simple and very addictive: do activities, get gold, use gold to empower hammer, use hammer to gain charges, use charges to turn Umbrals into the items you want. Unlock more specific options by reaching certain goals, eg getting so many Sniper kills or opening so many Cabal chests. Do weekly quests to unlock Hammer upgrades.

There's always something to be working towards and you always feel like you're making progress on something.

Im sure I went to the cryptarch and my engram count was 0/35, might be missing something there.

I think I saw that tutorial twice, I got lost half way through.... It feels like Im back to studying with this game

To be fair even Im lost, I enjoy the mechanics of the game, so Ill be putting in some more effort over the weekend.

I tried getting into this recently but it really didn't grab me enough to properly get past the learning curve and work out what was going on. It didn't make a good impression on me, just felt like a confusing time sink - I gave up as I simply wasn't having fun and wanted to move on to something else!

Looks like Bungie is expanding. They're hiring multiple new Lead level personnel, increasing office space, opening a new international office and generally getting bigger.

Biggest takeaway? Noseworthy and Smith, the current creative leads on Destiny, are being repurposed to expand Destiny into "additional media."

I'm going to say it:

The new exotic quest is one of the best things Bungie have ever put in Destiny.

I solo'd it last night up till the boss then couldn't be arsed beating it. It's alright but I didn't find it as mind blowing as everyone else seems to be.

Where did that location come from? Surely it's not something they've created from scratch for it because that's not how they work.

Did you figure it out yourself or use a guide? I did it blind with a friend and strawberry floating loved it.

And yes, it's a completely new location. Bungie had an entire team working on it.

Oh yeah. It's a lever-action scout rifle and it's great. Like Hawkmoon it rolls with random drops after your first one, unlike Hawkmoon the opportunity to do so is immediately available. A new roll drops every week per account from the Glykon mission. My first came with Fourth-Time's-The-Charm which works really well with the exotic perk (precision shots stack damage and reload buff)

New week, new stuff:

New Nessus Battleground
New (old) strike: Fallen SABER
New story mission in the HELM
New story in the Glykon exotic mission
Master level Glykon exotic mission
Dead Man's Tale catalyst
Iron Banner

For the first time ever in this game I feel we're spoilt for choice every reset. I don't imagine they'll keep up this pace for the whole season but this is, without a doubt, the strongest start to a season ever.

Went to play the new Battleground and strike earlier but their server maintenance kept getting extended. Thin it finally finished at 10pm and I couldn't be arsed.

It's weird, as it's almost the opposite of what seasons were meant to be and what Bungie themselves said they were aiming for.

Seasons were meant to be repeatable, grindy PVE activities. Bungie said a focus on campaign or story missions wasn't viable as they are often a one-and-done thing, or resource intensive.

So precvous seasons have either been very light on story (Undying), told most of it through lore (Arrivals, with the exotic quest and the Exodus story, or front/back-ended it with a single campaign mission.

Obviously we still haven't got a campaign in Hunt or Chosen, but there have been more missions. Hunt was a disappointment in terms of the main activity, but was decent in a story sense with the focus on Crow, as well as having a surprising amount of unique missions come up.

The exotic quest has been more involved too. Arrivals was a great season, and Ruinous Effigy a unique fun, but its quest consisted of the usual grindy steps.
