The reviews are a given considering these types of games are the video game equivalent of Marmite.

Still think the game looks really good and I will go for it anyway.

I've got it ordered from Amazon for £46.99 with Prime discount. Hopefully they don't screw up launch day delivery this time.

Quantic Dreams games are always hit and miss for people. The best way to play them I find is like it's a Benny Hill simulator, Heavy Rain in particular.

Don't think I can justify paying full price.

Might be something me and the mrs can play through once it lands on PS Plus.

Still clocking up an 80% average from 71 reviews though.

I was lucky enough to get it for £40.70 with a free copy of Blade Runner 2049 on blu ray from Shopto. And it arrived today... 8-)

After all the negative comments since it's reveal I'm surprised how well this has reviewed. Microsoft would kill for a 7 or 8 out 10 at the moment so assuming this sells well it will be another success for Sony first party.

Not interested in the game myself, but guess it simply boils down to Detroit actually being okay.

Eurogamer's review of Detroit is an odd one. Oli Welsh's hatred of David Cage is quite transparent throughout, with Oli seemingly reviewing the man himself as opposed to the actual game. It really is amateur hour, even by Eurogamer standards.

Definitely one I will check out once the price comes down to something approaching sensible in a sale. Looks pretty impressive from a technical and visual point-of-view, and I'm attracted to the overall themes. I just hope it isn't too preachy and unsubtle with its messaging. Yes, I'm cynical (with good reason, I believe), so I'll be hoping for some serious YT analysis of the game's story and underlying narratives in the next few weeks.

QD's games have been pretty bad, however I don't agree with the criticism of some that these types of games are simply 'bad'. Life is Strange and some other titles show that narratively focused games can be great. I would love to see what the likes of Dontnod could do on David Cage's budget.

Until Dawn, some of the Telltale ones and A Way Out are fantastic examples of games like this.

Until Dawn. :dread:

Tried it via PSN+ a while back and it was just plain awful. I mean, it's so bad the wife and I were almost wetting ourselves with laughter at it.

Thought Heavy Rain was great and Beyond wasn't. The reviews suggest I will like this on that basis.

Oh man, Until Dawn remains one of the best experiences I've had this gen. Me and my housemates would gather once every week or so, grab a few beers and do a few chapters. It was excellent.

Yes, definitely. That is probably one of the only games I would willingly pay for some extra chapters.

Gemini, how far did you get into it? It does take a while to get going.

Yes?

Maybe a couple of hours or so before I switched it off. Perhaps I didn't give it enough chance, but I didn't stick around to find out.

Okay, Buff.

Would it make you feel better if I told you that I did throughly enjoy Life is Strange from beginning to end?

With Until Dawn I got as far as stumbling around some cavern with the blonde girl and her boy friend (?) and switched it off. And it was obvious who the killer was from the get go. Thank God for PSN ±

I’m sorry, I was being juvenile. As per.
To me it was a glorious throwback to the slasher movie age - the writing was so on point, each character felt different but painted in a hilariously broad stroke. And it was genuinely a bit scary /nohomo
I’d buy a PS5 for a sequel.
