How many hours to get to that stage?

I'm not sure. The Switch 'played time' is terrible. Still just tells me 'first played 10 days ago'. I'd be interested to know how many hours I've sunk already!

Once you get the season set, you're pretty bad ass and can fly through rifts (at least with the Demon Hunter). I found some builds online and I'm working at collecting all the pieces and upgrading legendary gems.

I’m still trundling through story mode. On act 3 now and I’m about level 46. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to do all the season stuff before this one finishes, as I think there’s not that long left.

My play is to try finish story then jump into adventure mode to hopefully get the season set.

Does it take a fair while to do all the objectives in a season?

Nah, doesn't take too long to do the 4 chapters of the season, and unlock the whole set. You've got til December I believe.

I've completed "slayer" and almost finished "champion". I'm not sure I'll manage the rest, but they just unlock portrait frames.

I'm up to paragon 411 now!

If you download the Parental Control app it gives you all of that information.

No idea why they decided that play time etc would only be useful to parents, it's the kind of info you'd expect in either the standard app or on the Switch itself.

Yeah I am loving this. I think my playtime figure will unlock tomorrow, but I think it’ll be pretty high already.

Can’t wait to finish the story mode to see what adventure is like. I always found the endgame stuff more interesting in other loot type games I’ve played (like destiny). I like starting to settle on a build and a set of gear, whereas prior to that you’re just getting new stuff so often it’s just a case of throwing older stuff away.

I’m excited to start a new character as well. I’d like to do something more melee based or maybe the demon hunter. Been using a with doctor which has been fun, but I think I’ll prefer something a bit more direct.

Is the Necromancer similar to the witch doctor?

Anyone able to advise, I’ve done the chapter one stuff in the current season so should have a profile frame and a pet. I can’t find any way to unlock them. I can view the rewards in the season tab, but can’t find any way to claim them.

Help!

So this is really enjoyable. Basic and repetitive but it throws loot at you so often you just keep going. So I’ve finished story mode twice as demon hunter and necromancer and just starting adventure mode.

Can someone summarise what seasons mode is all
About? I’ve not looked at it yet.

Adventure Mode with milestones, essentially. You create a character from scratch and do certain Seasonal Challenges, of which there are several tiers. Each time you complete a tier, you get a seasonal reward. These rewards include class specific seasonal armour sets and cosmetic items such as pets and pennants.

It's a really savvy way to keep the endgame interesting.

So I’ve started a season mode character. Wow you really do start from stratch with nothing!! And maybe I’m wrong but the loot is much rarer, actually having to think about the combat and every little upgrade actually means a lot more now! It’s more interesting but far harder. I breezed story even on hardest available difficulty so this is good. Trying out the barbarian for a more “hands on” character!

Urgh I'm getting tempted by this on the Switch now it's £33 on the eshop. I already own it on the PS4 and have bought Let's Go and Smash Bros in the past few weeks.

But I do have long flights back to the UK coming up, and three weeks away from my other consoles...

Do it. This is the fourth version I've bought and have no regrets. I've never been able to put much time into it before, but having it to play in handheld mode is just perfect.

It's been so long since I played it though, I've no idea what all the extra content is. Read about Seasons earlier in the thread, but what are Paragon points?

Paragon points are a way of levelling up once you hit the level cap. I can't remember if it's each time you level up, but at least every two levels you'll get a few points to plonk into one of 4 attributes (which differ between classes). It's a way to further specialise. I'm pretty sure there's no cap either, so you get characters who are around level 600 and the like.

For £30, I too am tempted with the switch version... HUM.

The paragon points system kicks in when you hit the level max (70). It’s then a separate levelling system that kicks in. You start gaining the paragon levels very quickly compared to the levels when you are approaching level 70 in the main levelling curve.

Each paragon level gets you a point for one of four categories (attack, defense etc) and can be assigned to one of many sub stats within those sub categories. Each level gives you a point to one category at a time and rotated through each of the 4 main categories. Once you hit paragon level 4 you will have 1 point in each category.

It’s worth playing the game on the hardest difficulty so you can level quicker and get better gear. Even on the hardest of the initially available difficulties isn’t that bad, but the xp gain is huge.

Also a wee tip, if you have. Leorics crown, W in you get off the first boss, keep that on until you hit 70. You’ll level much quicker. Once you unlock the jeweller artisan, get a red gem into the socket on the crown and it’ll boost the xp gain even further. You should be able to last a while using it even though the defense it offers will quickly become underpowered.

I played this a bit in local co-op over the weekend with my friend on Switch. I don't think I get it, it's a fun game because it's a mindless power trip, but I could hardly call it good.

We reached level 20 or so across a good few hours. The game is frighteningly easy, to the point where I didn't care about taking damage because health regens so quickly, so everything was about damage output. And boy we just murdered everything. I had dual crossbows and used rapid fire extensively, which is far more machine gun like than bow like. My friend was playing a wizard so had a beam and then later homing arrows. We were killing every boss we came across almost instantly in a single stream of fire, sometimes to the point of cutting off their opening dialogue before it could finish, which was hilarious. By the end I had a raven who would just kill things off-screen for me, while my friend automatically killed things with shock whenever they got halfway close on the screen.

Talking of hilarious, the voice acting and writing is definitely funny bad. Everyone delivers the script so matter-of-factly in these parody fantasy accents. We did just end up skipping almost all dialogue and ignore the story completely, but it didn't seem to matter when every quest was just go to dungeon (far too often a crypt with recycled rooms) and murder everything that moves. My favourite dialogue was a side quest where we found a guy lamenting his wife being infected, with us immediately (and with almost no consoling or remorse) offering to go kill her with him. Which we did. With extreme prejudice. He seemed to take it very well and not be upset at all, in fact rewarding us, so she must have been a good wife.

Oh yeah, and audio logs  Can't believe they turned scrolls and books inexplicably into audio logs. There was one part where we triggered a story "scene" played out by ghosts showing a guy's murder, but then triggered an audio log straight after, and the audio log audio replaced that from the scene playing out

I know it's a game about looting and making numbers go up, but I found it funny that sometimes you pick up rare items that have to be uncovered to see their stats, but all that really means is you have to press a button over them and wait a second on the inventory screen. It's literally pointless! I also found it strange how quite often we'd pick up equipment with a higher number on it, but all the arrows said it was worse in every category, so it wasn't worth switching out.

What I did really like about the game was the constant unlocking of new skills every level, and the freedom to change your loadout to whatever is preferred. That definitely helped in min-maxing the murder!

The campaign is definitely a power-fantasy-become-death simulator, but it's during the endgame where things become really interesting. Try setting difficulty to Torment XII and saying it's easy!

Also, the story is strawberry floating brill. It's pure, not-even-B-movie schlock that knows exactly how ridiculous it is. Anyone taking Covetous Shen seriously is...yeah. Sort of missing the point.

In a lot of ways it reminds me of Magicka, although I preferred that for its more obvious embracing of the ridiculous and for the great accidental friendly fire potential

Neither are the kind of the game I want to commit to seeing through to completion, so endgame content is something that will not draw me in unfortunately. I don't want to have to put in tens of hours to reach the good part of the game

You don't have to put that much in, now that Adventure mode is unlocked from the start. Arguably, if you start in Seasonal and do the journeys, you're basically doing Endgame stuff already bar not being level 70. And level 79 doesn't take tens of hours. I think most people do it in about five or six.

Thanks for that. Playing on Normal so will no doubt give a harder difficulty a go afterwards. Hung on to Leoric's Crown as well so will make sure to keep it equipped :)
