TBH, I should think Obsidian are hoping Blizzard don't release Diablo III on consoles any time soon - they are counting on a gap in the market such as this to leave room for their next offering: Dungeon Siege III (PC/PS3/360). Exciting times ahead for RPG fans. 8-)

Might as well suggest a thread merge between this and this.

That said, will be checking that my Battle.net account has "intrested in Diablo betas" on. Although it'll probably be a good thing to buy StarCraft 2 (or even play StarCraft 1...)

I know it's a bit stupid bit this is one of the games I would replace my PC for even though the machine I'm using will run it just fine on medium settings. It's one of those games that I'm sure will look absolutely stunning on a super high end system and I'm a sucker for awesome visuals  .

Diablo 3 Beta coming "soon"

Every now and then I have people asking me about a potential ETA for the beta of Diablo 3. This is a pretty hard question to answer but we can guess that it will be available very soon.

1. Activision Earning Call - During the latest conference call, Activision announced that the beta would start during Q3 2011, that's between July 1st and September 30th.

2. Press Tour - A Diablo 3 press tour is scheduled for Diablo fansites on August 1st, this is pretty much what happened with Cataclysm with the Press Tour happening 2 weeks before the start of beta.

3. Box Art - Last but not least, the Diablo 3 beta box art has been uploaded on the european battle.net last week, Blizzard seems to be getting ready for a launch "soon" - https://eu.battle.net/account/local-com ... d3-big.png

Yes because when I think "Diablo" I think "high end graphics that require a hardware upgrade to run on high".

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

Kinda feel bad for Torchlight II if these both end up getting released this year.

Bump.

Beta details are apparently going to be out tomorrow. Make sure you've got a beta profile set up on your Battle.net account.

Diablo III has real money auction house - It was also confirmed that the game will require an internet connection to play at all times.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011- ... n-decision - Diablo III auctions "a design decision"

It'll be interesting to hear the thoughts of people slagging off Ubisoft for doing the same thing.

It doesn't matter if its Ubisoft, Blizzard or any other developer. It's a strawberry floating stupid decission. Ah well, looks like ill be giving this a miss. Torchlight II will have to satisfy my dungeon crawling loot whoring needs instead.

The fact of the matter is that Blizzard offer plenty of online integration in Diablo III. Examples being server side characters, friends and the auction house among others. Ubisoft on the other hand offer strawberry float all and just do it for piracy's sake.

Having it on-line all the time will prevent people from hacking and cheating on their toons, and then taking them on-line. Simple
