Just got this on PS4 on Friday thanks to the weekend flash sale. Still in Act 1 but just got to where Cain dies.

I’m at level 14 playing on the lowest difficulty (I just want to play the game and not struggle through ok).

Question though, how do I equip stuff from my stash to my follower? Sorry if it’s obvious but I ain’t sussed it yet.

It is worth pushing the difficulty as high as you can comfortably go, otherwise you will spend ages getting mediocre loot and/or getting bored. There are millions of difficulties so the difference between the lowest few is minimal.

I'm playing the season (whatever that means) and it said I couldn't change difficulty when I looked at that. I'm quite happy tootling along as I am if needs be. Gone are the days of playing bastard-hard difficulties now.

God, I've turned into Peter Crisp haven't I?

Diablo is all about the hard difficulties as, as Trelliz says, you won't get any loot worth keeping on the lower levels. It's fun to blast through the campaign on easy to open up Adventure Mode, but once you get there you'll be wanting to ramp it up a bit.

As far as I'm aware, you can't change seasonabl difficulty mid-game, right? You can change it before you load it up though I think?

Normally in the regular mode, I think you can only move one or two levels up or down. Again, to change it more drastically you need to quit out and do it from the main menu.

You can change seasonal difficulty from the main menu but not from the pause menu. It is worth putting it up at least to hard or the one above to start with. It doesn’t really feel any different but you level faster and get better gear!

Seasonal is worth doing as once you hit 70 you can quickly get access to a good set of gear more or less for free.

That's the difficulty level I play it on, I don't have a lot of manual dexterity so don't tend to use skills other than passives or summons (DH with rapid fire set to LMB is my preferred playstyle).

Any higher difficulty is too much for me.

So, after reading your advice, I started a new, non seasonal, playthrough. This time I’ve selected the monk, and also ramped up to Expert.

It’s so much more fun and rewarding! By the time I reached the same part of the game as my seasonal hero had got to, my levels were way ahead. I’m still in Act 1 (but surely approaching the end of it?) and am at level 34 already. Just fighting through a massive torture dungeon full of flaming zombies and executioners. Just defeated Lorics executioner

Really enjoying it

After the announcement of Diablo 2 remaster I am thinking of going back to this as I put about 10 hours into it on Nintendo Switch back in 2018 but never went back to it.

Has much changed in the game since then? I never finished the story mode so is it best to play through all that again first before doing much else? I will be starting from scratch again as it’s been so long.

I doubt they'll have made many major changes to the main campaign, if what you have is the Eternal Collection.

To keep your interest in the game, I suggest you always tweak the difficulty to one of the harder settings; you'll soon get bored of mowing enemies down on auto-pilot if the game is too easy.

I’ll have to load up my old save and see what difficulty I had it on, i do recall it being a like going through the motions
