I made these notes last season...

Steal followers weapon.
Check for easy bounty bosses for chest on Master dificulty (Magda, Zoltun Kulle, Belial).
Change to hard and complete all remaining bounties in the act.
Craft weapons upgrades, only spend gold to upgrade the blacksmith for the next item level.
Socket Rubies into your helm and weapon, all other sockets use your mainstat gem.
Buy damage rings at level 7 & damage amulet at level 11.
Complete the campaign through the leoric checkpoint to get leoric's Crown.
Get Kanai's Cube, just fight your way there. drop difficulty in necessary.
At level 21 start doing normal rifts.
At Level 42 try and craft level 60 weapon with 18 reduced levels.
At Level 61 try and craft a level 70 with reduced levels.

Cheers mate. How do you get the cube again?

Step 1. Speak to Zoltun Kulle in any city to begin the Kanai’s Cube quest.
Step 2. Teleport to the zone called Ruins of Sescheron, Act 3.
Step 3. Explore the first map until you find a blue portal that allows you to enter Elder Sanctum. Enter it.
Step 4. The Kanai’s Cube can be found on a pedestal in the Elder Sanctum, usually on the top-right of the map. Click on it to finish the quest.
Step 5. You can now find the Kanai’s Cube in any city.

Cheers mate. Will I have the powers I unlocked last season in the cube?

Nope. It's a fresh start. Although your character(s) from last season are now 'normal' characters. Your cube powers and from last season will be available to all non-seasonal characters.

I don’t feel like there’s any reason to play a non-seasonal character as the rewards for doing the season are so good.

I feel like there’s no reason to go back to last season’s WD when I could be building my seasonal Demon Hunter.

So, how and where do I find the "Darkening of Tristram" anniversary content?

Has that not finished? If it’s still running it shows in one of the maps in adventure mode as a pentagram. If you travel there you’ll find a pixelated portal which starts it.

Yeah mate I’m on regularly. I’ve got you on my friends list. I’m about 200 but currently levelling my Demon Hunter so not hit Paragon for that character yet. Will probably be on a bit later. Feel free to join me.

Cool. Feel free to send invites at will. I'm down for rifts, grifts, bounties whatever.

Found it eventually but didn't have time to fully complete the quest, got to the 9th floor of the labyrinth before calling it a night as I had to be up early this morning.

Loving the old school pixelated graphics on this quest though, plus the enemies being tougher and behaving differently is a neat touch.

Yeah I was quite surprised by how long the dungeon is compared to all the others in the game!

I beat Darkening of Tristram, but didn't get the pet, so I'll need to read up on how I unlock that.

Its so long because its like Diablo 1 which is a straight up dungeon crawler.

There are 2 pets to get. One for the clear and one for the easter egg which requires you to grab a mushroom on level 9 I think to start it.

Finally got round to starting this tonight (Nintendo Switch) I have chosen barbarian and selected seasonal character and have started story mode. It all seems a bit daunting, i’m grabbing lots of loot and there’s ton’s of menus and such that i’m just trying to get a sense on what I should be focusing on for the time being.

You're probably better off playing the story mode before starting with a season character.

Adventure mode is what you want to be playing with a season character.

He can still play story mode with a season character, then move on to adventure mode. In fact, it's want I'd recommend.

Yeah, I thought someone before mentioned it was best to start with a season character so you can get season perks as well.

At the moment, i’m just checking the main number on the loot I pick up and if it’s higher than what I have equipped then i’ll replace it with the new gear. Is there anything I should be looking out for/concentrating on? What’s the whole ‘Paragon’ level thing?

Is it me or is the game a lot harder now?

Haven't played it for a while but normally I can obliterate most standard enemies and take down elites fairly easily but playing it today as a lvl60 Demon Hunter (hard difficulty) I was really struggling.

Obviously the DH isn't the most robust class and I don't use a lot of skills other than passive ones but even so I should be pretty much invincible on the difficulty level I'm playing at.

Found a legendary quiver which makes the rapid fire skill zero cost so used kanai's cube to extract its power and I'm finding things a lot easier now.

Playing on expert difficulty atm but will probably up it to master as I managed to kill Malthiel in under a minute yesterday.

Quick question though, do you have to complete all the season quests before you get the set armour? also where do you find the armour? does it just appear in your inventory - I've never actually finished a season before despite having the game since launch.
