Cool CGI trailers aren't even that difficult. Even awful games have them. I'd have expected better from Blizzard.

Blizzard have been doing CGI trailers for all of their games. I don't get your point.

He's saying the quality of the trailer is bad, the textures are not very sharp, the characters skin looks like it's made of plastic etc.

It looks like the Warcraft 3 trailer...

and that's 11 years old.

I'm on the side that thinks the trailer's rubbish but it's not CGI...it's an in-engine cutscene by the looks of it.

Don't forget the engine is still young and they're still working on it. This isn't the final time we'll see Diablo III at Blizzcon before it's released, there's a few years yet I think.

Sorry I know I shouldn't be laughing but Diablo III's engine is still young? It's already been delayed countless times, so saying it's still young is kinda ridiculous at this point.
Hopefully the game will be great but that Demon Hunter trailer just isn't good at all, not even close to the quality Blizzard usually puts out.

If they made it using the engine, then they either have no confidence in it, as the majority of what they show is in darkness or very poorly lit. Or they just got lazy and know no matter what they make it will sell well.

Diablo 3 hasn't been delayed countless times, it was never given a release date.

They were still working on the Starcraft 2 Engine, even during the beta. When it comes to Blizzard, they never release a non perfect game and you know it.

Oh dear, didn't like that trailer at all. I hope it turns out good but at the moment I'm also looking forward to Torchlight 2 more.

I've been looking forward to this since it was announced. In the meantime I've bought Torchlight and Sacred 2, which were both very good Diablo-esque games and really enjoyed them both.

I've just pre-ordered on Amazon (thanks Lewie). Just hope this will run on my Mac. Don't suppose they've announced the system requirements yet have they?

The Wiki page (I realise this may not be the most accurate information but it's most likely about right) says this about the development.
Development on Diablo III began in 2001 when Blizzard North was still in operation. The original artistic design differed from that shown at Blizzard Worldwide Invitational 2008 demonstration, and had undergone three revisions before reaching the standards felt necessary by the team behind Diablo III. The development teams are composed of fifty people. Most of the game mechanics and physics are complete, and are undergoing minor revisions.

While they may not have given a release date giving a demonstration in 2008 would normally mean they are somewhere near to release and not expecting it to be more than 2 years away from a release date.

Do you remember what happened with Starcraft 2 Crispy?

They were expecting the release 3 years ago, but kept pushing it back to make the game better.

All I'm saying is that while they may not have announced a release date it has still been delayed by a long long time. I've pre-ordered it and am looking forward to it but 10 years making one game must be soul destroying for the developers and they must be sick of the sight of it by now  .

To be fair Peter, Diablo III was only officially announced a year or two ago.

So it has hardly been the development hell you are touting. That said I am disapointed they have not given us a release date, as I was hoping that would be the BIG Blizzcon reveal

They'll probably announce the release date next year or the year after.

I'd rather them take nearly a decade to make a game so they can make the best game of all time.*

This really is a stunning-looking game. Absolutely beautiful. I weep for the fact Blizzard just don't seem to want to release it. Ever. :(

Blizzard: Diablo III is “suited to consoles”

You want a massive stonking hint that Blizzard’s been thinking really, really hard about releasing Diablo III for consoles? Here it is.

“I think it is suited to consoles,” senior designer Jason Bender told VG247 at Blizzcon last weekend, speaking to Nathan Grayson.

“We’re definitely working, obviously, on the PC version. This is something that’s been brought up a lot about Diablo.”

He added: “It’s sort of an ongoing question. And I’m sure we would all love to play it on console, but right now, we’re just focused on what we’ve got in front of us. Who knows what the future holds? It’s hard to say.”

The original Diablo was brought to PSone by EA in 1998, but Diablo II skipped consoles entirely.

Well they'll get more profitability out of it then.

Ok, yeah sure. Really fast game that requires a hell of a lot of keys great on Consoles. Ok...

Diablo 1 was out on PS1, and you know how good that was? It wasn't, that's why you don't know how good it is.
