PostDigitiser the Show
by Squinty » Mon Dec 03, 2018 1:39 pm

I thought I'd make a topic about this to help raise awareness of the show. Digitiser was on teletext aeons ago, and it was always pretty funny and informative. I always looked forward to reading it. It stopped in 2003.

One of the creators of Digitiser, Mr Biffo (Paul Rose) went on to write screenplays for various media projects, My Parents are Aliens being one of them. He has now revived Digitiser via a kickstarter/crowdfunding thing, in the format of a Youtube panel TV show.

Is anyone else watching this? The first episode was a bit rough around the edges, but they seem to be improving. I think the 4th episode has been the best one yet. They seem to be hitting the stride. The show straddles the line between informative and outright ridiculous. Might be of interest to retro gamers on here.

Digitiser was one of the highlights of my day back in the teletext era.

Will check out the show later.

What would be the point without an update on the status of Mr T's bins?

Watched the 1st episode a week or two ago and though it was alright.

I've been meaning to watch the rest, but not really gotten around to it.

Reminds me that I need to revive the Consolevania thread with the YT uploads they've been doing.

It's pretty good, could do without Paul Gannon being so overpowering all the time (then again I'm kind of used to that with his other projects).

Also, I will never unsee the end of episode 4. Thanks, Larry.

I loved it when Biffo brought things back with the Digitiser 2000 website and really enjoyed his Found Footage show on YouTube last year, but I have to admit that I really struggled to get through the first episode of this.

It's hard to translate the kind of humour that Digitiser had onto a show format and the whole thing was a lot more cringey to watch than I had expected. I'll give the next few a go as I've heard others also say that they improve but it's got some work to do...

Oh every episode is cringeworthy in places, part of the charm I guess!

Thought this was cringey as strawberry float, couldn't manage more than five minutes of the first episode. Digitiser does't translate well to a video show. Thought that found footage stuff was strawberry floating awful too.

I've notice Mr Biffo hasn't really been taking criticism well on Twitter either.

I've really been enjoying this and it's definitely getting better as it goes on. It helps that I'm already a fan of most of the contributors like Stuart Ashen, Octavius Kitten and Guru Larry.

The last 10 minutes of episode 3 had me in tears. Not that it was scripted, just Biffos reaction to the carnage that was unfolding. Essential viewing for that alone.

I like it, which is just as well as I backed it on Kickstarter. I think they've done a decent job of translating the original thing to the new thing.

Well, that's it finished. All in all, I really enjoyed it. Some jokes don't land, some of the unscripted stuff had me in stitches. Fat Sow and the beautiful boy singing had me in tears.

Rampage, the game with the prawns and Sonics Rings were my favourite bits.

Yeah it started off a bit meh, but quickly grew into something well worth watching. Fat Sow was great.
