Think I will wait for the physical release and hope it has some performance patches

Precisely what I'm doing.

I don't understand why this should have performance problems on the Switch - it's not a game with super duper hi-res 4k ray-trace graphics and therefore shouldn't require the power of a PS5 to ensure smooth frame rates.

Check out my YouTube channel!
One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

Already have this on PS4, but will buy again on XSX for next gen load times. It was the only thing that dragged the game down for me (after all the crashing was addressed).

Anybody who thinks this might appeal to them - do yourself a favour and take the risk, it might just become your favourtie, most memorable game of all time.

Thinking this will be a perfect steam deck game.

From Nintendolife's review

For the Switch specifically, Disco Elysium: The Final Cut does unfortunately run into a few roadblocks when it comes to overall performance. In larger areas, the game stutters slightly as you wander around; it’s not enough to completely break immersion, but it’s there nonetheless. Similarly, load times are often a bit too long for our liking, and even when the game autosaves, the action just screeches to a halt whilst it works out what it’s doing. None of these issues affected our enjoyment of the game too much, but they're there. Thankfully, developer ZA/UM is well aware of the performance issues, and is working to resolve these in upcoming patches.

Something that might not be addressed, however, is the small text, which isn’t so much of an issue if you’re playing in docked mode, but might be an annoyance if you’re playing in handheld mode. The new OLED model might alleviate this somewhat, but that's not much consolation if you're playing on a Switch Lite

Might be an issue for those of you wanting to play this on an OG/Lite model handheld.

I thought the Switch version was supposed to be tweaked especially to accomodate the text on a smaller screen?

I never had a problem with the text size when i played it on PS4 (many people did), but i dont think it would be a comfortable experience if it simply scaled down accordingly to even a 7" screen. It would basically look the same as if i tried to remote play it to my iPhone.

Just ignoring all the warranted praise that the developers have got for this - it's a bit gooseberry fool of them to release it on Switch fully aware of the performance issues.

The PS4 version was a disaster for about a month after launch. At one point it was patched to a point where it was literally unplayable. They did keep supporting it though, and in the end it was completely stable.

Definitely one that probably benefits from waiting for a month or two.

Received a notification from Steam that this has been reduced from £34.99 to £19.99. Very tempted as I've heard great things.

Do it. £20 is an absolute steal.

I'm in the fortunate position of being paid weekly so if it's still on offer come Friday then I'll snap it up.

This game is the most stupidly excellent thing I've played in a long time and it's essentially the sequel to Planescape Torment that we should have got. I love it.

I just got 'piece of toilet paper desperately sticking to the back.

It's a metaphor- for you'

I'm in pieces

I really think this is my favourite game of all time. I thought it when I played it 6 months ago, but the fact I still think about it every week has cemented that belief.

I honestly can’t wait to play it again, and that’s something I almost never do.

I would concur. Can't say I've got the stamina to complete this (it's a little too wordy for me) but as a concept, this game is dazzling in its structure. Would love a similar game to this that was better paced and a little less cerebral.

I've not looked too closley at this but I think I'd like it. I was interested in the Switch version but it sounds like, at the moment, it performs rather poorly with plenty of crashing. Hopefully it'll be patched promptly but I do wonder why publishers put out games in such a poor state. Failing that, I may explore the PS4/5 version.

They've apparently fixed the text issue:

I think the physical version of this (non collector's edition) must be the updated patch as it didn't seem to have any text or crashing issues.

So I've just started this anywaysz seems really good so far.

I tried to implant part of myself onto the character so I went with

3 Intellect
5 Psyche
1 Physique
3 Motorics

As I thought that's probably what my real life stats would be

Just had a heart attack from kicking a trash can, 10/10

When you start you can die from simply stretching to get a tie from a ceiling fan.
I know I put zero stats into strength or stamina but strawberry floating hell how did the guy manage to survive into his middle age if he can't even manage that?

I *think* I'm gonna get this. It looks really involving and detailed. It's currently on sale on both the PlayStation Store (around £21) and the Switch eShop (around £23). Both versions have been patched since launch and I think I'll probably go for the portability of the Switch version.

Gonna give myself a few hours to "cool down" but will then decide :-).
