There’s a lot of people waiting on this patch they announced was ready 4 or 5 days ago now, to actually arrive on consoles. Seems that, like me, several people have just stopped playing because a few of the quests are just glitched which basically halts your progression, or at least just leaves you in fear that you’re missing stuff through no fault of your own.

If it does turn up and doesn’t fix things I think I’ll try and get my first ever refund through PSN and I’m pretty sure I wont be alone.

I know I was one of the ones desperate to hear about a release date but they’ve just hurt themselves here. I don’t know if it was some deal they had with Sony that it had to be released in March but it’s clear the game wasn’t in a state to do so and rather than just delaying any announcement of release until as late as possible they should have just said it wasn’t ready and pushed the game back as long as was needed. I’d much rather be told at the start of a month that a game isn’t ready and will be delayed 2 months than hear nothing week after week, get a few days notice of the actual release only for the game to come come out very janky and needing a patch to be properly playable.

It is a real shame, I havent picked it up yet for this reason. Can't see why it was seemingly rushed out - its not exactly Cyberpunk in terms of public interest.....

Patch is out, reports mainly seem to be that it doesn't fix the problems.

strawberry floated it.

So seems like the quest is still strawberry floated but rather than looping you endlessly it just skips over it all to the end. strawberry float knows what that was supposed to be about.

Bit ridiculous the game got out in this state.

PATCH 1.3 INFO:

Hey y’all,

Maybe blame it on the Doomed Commercial Area, birthplace of doomed dreams, resting place for every venture. Blame it on an incursion of the apocalypse in a localized space, or whatever Tequila Sunset hits you with. Blame it on a call to Abigail.

Or just blame it on us. Because it is our fault, that’s true. We’re all just human beings dreaming big, and not always making those dreams come true like we hope. But we’re going to try anyway, and try again, until we get it right. And we will.

Patch 1.3 is being worked on right now. We don’t have a launch date, but we wanted to tell you it’s coming, and tell you what y’all could expect.

Tons of Voice Over fixes
Improved Kim pathfinding
Fixed controller interaction during Seafort Dream
Fixed controller interaction with The Pigs
Fixed Sandcastle interaction
Fixed car interaction
Fixed instances where the tide never receded near the swings
Fixes pawnshop healing interaction
Fixed Thought Cabinet freezes
Fixed save game bugs
Fixes for Cutscene locks and edge-case interactions with controllers
And little bit this and that, general house cleaning after stormy development!

And that’s all we can say for now. We know it’s rough, we know it’s our fault, and we’re here to tell you it’s getting fixed.

Thanks for your patience. Keep the days happy.

Your pal,

Freelance Ad Agent,

Idiot Doom Spiral

Looks like it addresses most stuff I’ve seen.

Thing is 1.3 sounds like the state the game should have been released in, at worst. The fact it got let out the door and was approved by Sony is shocking and would put me off getting anything from them day one again.

It's such a disappointing shame that the console version has these issues. Especially as it sounds like it only needed another month or two to be in top condition. Hopefully this patch isn't far off and more people will pick it up once these issues have been cleared up.

Most of the issues I've come across have been missing voice overs and a car that didn't have a texture. Touch wood I've not run into any serious bugs yet.

That's such a shame to hear. One of the best games of the generation ruins its introduction to a whole new audience by being rushed out the door.

Fingers crossed this patch sorts everything.

Scab Leader

Am I going mad or does this character have multiple voice actors? My wife is talking to him now and I can't place the accent but I'm certain he's always been Scottish when I've played. He definitely doesn't sound Scottish right now. Have I completely lost the plot or does his voice change depending on earlier choices the character makes?

(Spoilers)

I haven't played the game since it first came out but he turns out to be the leader of the mercenaries hired by Wild Pines, right? Since he's posing as a scab, it might be an intentional inconsistency for players with a good ear. If that's the case, I'm guessing his voice will sound different during the tribunal towards the end too.

That's really cool. Watching my wife play and I'm seeing so many dialogue trees I haven't seen before because she's gone about things in a completely different order to my previous playthroughs. Makes me love it even more.

I am hearing that 1.3 is already out. If true, i would love to know if this patch is out on PS4 (only seen PS5 reported), and if it resolves the common game breaking issues (i can live with slightly janky controls).

Yeah good news.

Reading about some impressions of it though and it seems it fixes some features (like tutorials) that nobody even knew were in the game because they were just broken for everybody.

I can’t recall playing a game that was more broken at launch, not just glitchy but really fundamentally broken.

If anyone here has this on PS4, could they check to see if the 1.3 / 1.003 update has rolled out?

The venn diagram between PS5 owners and Disco Elysium purchasers must be facinating, it seems like no one else in the world is interested in performance / patching etc on the PS4 console. Every other multi generation title has significant discussion around the old console, but not DE. Its like a little bit of the PC elitism managed to make the transition :slol:

I didn’t have that on launch but wasn’t that just glitchy, it didn’t have bugs that literally halted your progress and stopped you finishing the game. Maybe it did but I don’t recall reading about them. Go anywhere to find out about Disco Elysium and every single person will have encountered game breaking bugs.

I'm going to sit on this and hope they sort the issues via patches.

Largely, but people still reporting bugs with the voice over and maybe the latest patch broke the fast travel, which I haven’t even seen as an option tbh.
