Couldn’t find a thread for this and best to keep it out of generic PS5 one.

Downloading now.

People who have played before please be wary of spoilers for such a story heavy game.

Even if you've played it before, you should be wary of spoilers, I've already played it twice and there is still so much content that I haven't seen and/or didn't even know existed (not to mention there are also new quests in this release)

I think I'm going to start it tomorrow morning now but I'm so excited. The art work and story writing are just impeccable, as is everything else in this game.

It's still relatively new in my mind so it's possible I'm getting ahead of myself but it's possibly my favourite game of all time.

Anyone know if the Final Cut update works on current saves? I only ended up getting a couple of hours into it when it first came out but I didn’t really fancy restarting it.

The dev has confirmed that it does indeed.

But obvs if your save is far enough along, you may have missed some of the new content.

Cheers. I only made it to the second day so hopefully I won’t have missed much extra.

I’ll hopefully play it through again at some point but I wanted to keep whatever choices I had already made for this first play through.

Enjoying it a lot so far, dig the art style and the characters seem excellent. Music is pretty cool so far. Love how deep it seems to be. Slightly concerned about it being a case of ‘select all the dialogue options to win’ but I’m guessing some will lead to bad consequences and maybe it’s just easing me in.

I desperately want this game, but would much rather have it on Series X than PS4 Pro. What to do....

When the dialogue has ‘RHETORIC [Medium: Success]’ what does that mean? Is it trying to get me to do something?

No. Passive skill checks are regularly being performed in the background and successful checks will be marked that way before whatever the line of dialogue or description is. Outside of a few select cases, you won't see all of the checks you are failing.

Active checks are selectable actions or dialogue (the ones that tell you your chances of success before choosing them). I believe white active checks can be reattempted if you fail, but only if you put another skill point into whatever attribute the check is rolling against. Red active checks can only be tried once.

Yeah, the absolute beauty of the game is that if you play it again with points spent on different skills, you’ll most likely get a ton of new dialog as you’re passing/failing different skill checks behind the scenes. The best way I could think to describe it is that all your “skills” are characters in your party that become more vocal the more they are levelled up.

Anyway, the PS5 port seems a little disappointing. It should run better than this, particularly when it auto-zooms in and out, the loading should absolutely be a million times faster than it is, and there’s a few fiddly UI/interaction quirks.

None of this is enough to ruin the enjoyment of anyone coming to it from the first time, but just a little less slick than it should be.

Yeh the loading is a bit clumsy and there's really no reason it shouldn't be instantaneous.

Played for several hours and am starting to feel it's a little to wordy. Probably not a good sign this early on. I am intrigued by the quests and I want to pursue them but going into a book shop and having reams of text for every shelf is a bit overwhelming.

Half an hour in and I'm already blown away all over again. The representation of alcoholism and inner turmoil is on point and it's so sad.

How is this on Ps4 Pro? it seems everyone else in the world owns this on PC or PS5.

Probably one of the best games ever made, and absolutely the best written. Gonna jump back in as I'm fascinated to know whether the new VO improves the game or actually slows the whole thing down a bit.

God I can't wait.

Never really got far with this when I first played it, then held off going back because I saw this update was coming, so looking forward to restarting it.

The only thing that I'm still wary of is the way the time of day is constantly ticking on. I want to be able to poke about and explore at my own pace, and I remember last time getting frustrated at the way time kept moving regardless, especially knowing that there's a time limit somewhere and some things are only available at certain times.

Not very good on PS5 at the moment compared to its PC counterpart according to...

Since the publication of this article, Disco Elysium: The Final Cut has taken a small patch that fixes many of the frame rate issues detailed below. Following a quick bit of testing, we have found there to still be dips here and there, but they're not nearly as egregious following the update. However, the fix does not address the clunky interaction prompts as well as the minor bugs and glitches.

The much anticipated isometric RPG has launched on Sony platforms with a number of minor issues, all of which add up to make a fairly unsatisfying experience. It's frustrating because we can see some of the charm and quality seeping through the cracks that its PC userbase has talked up for the past year, to the point where we think what developer ZA/UM has in its hands will eventually be considered one of the PS5's best in its early years. But we're not playing that game on day one. What we are playing feels like a buggy and unresponsive chore.

The game uses the right thumbstick on the PS5 DualSense controller to highlight objects within every environment you can interact with. You then need to confirm that interaction by pressing X, except main character Harry only seems to follow your orders roughly half the time. It's a very fiddly system where you need to line your character up perfectly with where the game wants you to stand in order to trigger the prompt. If you are stood slightly to the side, the interaction won't take place. In just a few hours of playtime, we very regularly found ourselves needlessly adjusting positions to fit what the title demands. It's a tedious action that doesn't lend itself particularly well to a controller.

And then there's the odd glitch here and there that pulls control away from you. One example would be where we simply lost the ability to select a dialogue option for a couple of minutes. Every other menu in the game could be accessed and even scrolled through, but return to the actual game and no dice. We then suddenly regained control and were allowed to progress — we had pressed every button on the controller multiple times by this point so we're not sure what triggered this bug or how it was resolved.

Another game I’ll add to the ‘won’t be playing at launch’ list.

I believe time only advances when you talk to people.
