Conservative MP Jacob Rees-Mogg has named his sixth child Sixtus Dominic Boniface Christopher.

The backbencher announced the new arrival on Instagram, where attention focused on the eye-catching name.

The name Sixtus is shared with five popes, most recently in 1590.

"Helena and I announce with great joy that we have a baby Sixtus Dominic Boniface Christopher, a brother for Peter, Mary, Thomas, Anselm and Alfred." Mr Rees-Mogg said.

The other children's full names are Alfred Wulfric Leyson Pius, Thomas Wentworth Somerset Dunstan, Peter Theodore Alphege, Anselm Charles Fitzwilliam and Mary Anne Charlotte Emma Rees-Mogg.

The Tory MP for North East Somerset, who recently joined Instagram, has become something of a cult figure on social media, with dozens of Facebook pages devoted to him.

I have to say though he does have a likeable quality and I can't put my finger on it. I obviously don't agree with his politics, at all but he is quick thinking from what I've seen of him on shows like Question Time and always has a good retort. They're nearly always laughable though rather than putting any kind of good point across

I always think that he’s very similar to Boris. While not the buffoon character that Boris plays, he has that posh boy “charm” that people seem to find amusing.

He would be perfect casting if Richard Curtis made a Britcom about the Tory party.

Aren't you Rees-Mogg? You're a cool dude therefore your real life persona is cool too.

I like that he's unashamedly himself, which is a ridiculous stereotype that should normally by quite annoying but suits him perfectly. He's funny, intelligent, dorky AF, takes a huge amount of pride in being an MP and sticking to procedurals, Brexiter, prefers free markets.
