BBC News wrote:Labour has suspended Luton North MP Kelvin Hopkins after an allegation of sexual harassment.

The party has not given any details of the nature of the claims but the BBC understands it relates to an incident first reported a couple of years ago.

Mr Hopkins has had the whip withdrawn while an investigation takes place.

A party spokesman said Labour "takes all such complaints extremely seriously and has robust procedures in place".

I would be enjoying it if Labour were not in their current state. Getting rid of this disaster of a government would just bring in another disaster of a government.

Looking on the bright side, it's possible Brexit might be the unholy mess that's needed to take down the whole dysfunctional Westminster establishment once and for all, but I'm not holding my breath.

Sir Michael Fallon was forced to quit after Cabinet colleague Andrea Leadsom complained about his behaviour, it has emerged. Tory sources said Mrs Leadsom, the Leader of the Commons, complained directly to Theresa May about 'vile' language used by Sir Michael towards her at a parliamentary meeting six years ago.

The former Defence Secretary is said to have told Mrs Leadsom, who had complained of cold hands: 'I know where you can put them to warm them up.' Sir Michael is alleged to have been 'tactile' and put his arm around Mrs Leadsom in what a source described as 'unwanted attention'. He is also said to have made derogatory comments of a sexual nature about other MPs on the committee, as well as members of the public who had attended meetings.

A source close to Sir Michael said: 'He categorically denies saying something as appalling as he knows where she could warm her hands.

I see a lot of places are calling it "lewd" comments. Lewd is another of those words you don't seem to hear outside of newspapers or news channels!

When I think of lewd behaviour I normally think of some dirty old man with holes in his pockets. Fallon and Leadsom have ruined that image for me.

It always reminds me of Hugh Grant, he was charged with "lewd conduct" after getting caught with that prostitute.

I occasionally use the word 'lewd' in a kind of tongue-in-cheek way so it's quite entertaining to see it used seriously in the press.

I haven't seen this Harriet Harman Andrew Neil thing. But holocaust jokes aren't something you should be saying on national TV, no matter the context

I didn’t see this story earlier, but just looked it up.

Harman really is a thick strawberry float. :fp:

Do we have any politicians at the moment that are not complete dumbasses?

Does Portillo have any expression that doesn't make him look bemused?

I don't see any reason why you can't say the joke on tv when you are discussing the subject matter. Her whole point was that a magazine printed the joke and how it is not acceptable etc.. It only became an issue because Harmon implied at the start that Andrew Neil would have found it funny which lead to him getting annoyed with her. Harmon is an idiot so i don't like defending her.

It's similar to when Diane Abbott said '******' on Good Morning Britain and was shut down by the hosts and they apologised on her behalf. If it's in the context of a discussion about the use of the word and you are quoting something then there is nothing wrong with it. Offcom agrees with this stance. That word is inappropriate when said in racist and abusive way not when someone is quoting a comment that was said to them on a discussion show.
