The way I see things The Republic of Ireland currently has three bank holidays that are not bank holidays in Northern Ireland while there are four bank holidays in Northern Ireland that are not bank holidays in the Republic. If there was ever a United Ireland then in order to avoid offending people's beliefs we'd need to maintain all of those bank holidays while adding another to mark Reunification Day taking the island of Ireland up to an entirely reasonable 14 bank holidays.

I'd vote for that. :shifty:

Just to be on the safe side we'd better add in another bank holiday that we'll call Europe is Great and Being Part of the EU is Mighty Day in order to cut off any Irexit chat at the knees.

Which is the kind of ridiculous statement which shows just how wacky politics has gotten!

Not sure how to ask without sounding like a dickhead - if you live in England why do you care any more? Again I'm going to sound like a knobber :slol: - but I can totally understand the general perception of NI here, I don't see why they would view it as anything other than an expensive backwater. I moved years ago and now view NI politics with a sort of mild amusement as they continue to gooseberry fool the place up.

Mainly because I want to move back home (family is all still there plus in general the people are much much nicer and way more talkative and fun) in the medium to long term. it would be great if there was a semi competent economy and stuff by that point cos I don't want to take a huge salary hit if it happens.

Farage on the front of The Sun tomorrow

The Sun wrote:Nigel Farage ‘snogged and groped’ porn star Valerie Fox in champagne-fuelled ROMP on a JUMBO jet… and then whisked her off to luxury flat

A PORN star has told how Nigel Farage snogged and groped her in a champagne-fuelled ROMP on a JUMBO jet flying at 30,000 feet.

Valerie Fox, 30, said the ex-Ukip chief, 52, smothered her with kisses in upper class as they shared the tranystlantic flight.

She told a friend: “He had absolutely no qualms about anyone else seeing us together. Our hands were everywhere.”

The porn actress revealed they got so carried away while snogging on board the jumbo jet that they were ready to join the Mile High Club.

But she said they decided against romping together in the packed plane’s toilet because they feared being found out by patrolling cabin crew.

Valerie, who has appeared in dozens of hard-core movies, told a friend: “Nigel may be best known for getting the UK out of Europe, but he seemed much keener on getting himself into my knickers.”

She claimed the ex-Ukip leader smothered her with kisses and fondled her at 30,000ft.

And after landing at Heathrow, she said he whisked her off in his chauffeur-driven car to London, where the couple kissed again in her luxury flat before he left.

He later texted her, saying: “Have not felt like that for years.”

Valerie, 30, found herself sitting opposite the 52-year-old politician — separated from German wife Kirsten — on an overnight Virgin Atlantic upper class flight from Atlanta, Georgia, to London last week.

Mr Farage was returning from a US trip to be in Britain to celebrate the triggering of Article 50.

“I then went to the in-flight bar and he was sat looking through magazines for pictures of himself. He told me, ‘This is what gives me street cred’.

“I said, ‘Is this your thing, looking through magazines for photos of yourself?’ He laughed. He admitted he loved attention.

A right couple of chancers, in every sense of the word.

And the worst thing? It works.

Evening Standard wrote:Jeremy Corbyn so unpopular in London that even Labour supporters think he is doing badly

Jeremy Corbyn has become so unpopular in London that even Labour supporters in his home city think he is doing badly, a damning new poll revealed today.

The Labour leader gets negative ratings from every key group of Londoners, including young people, unskilled workers and inner London residents — seen as the party’s bedrock voters. But another Labour politician has soared up the ratings to become the most popular politician among Londoners: Mayor of London Sadiq Khan outshines not only Mr Corbyn but also Theresa May and Boris Johnson.

Astonishingly, half of Conservatives think Mr Khan is doing well, along with majorities of young and old, different social classes and inner and outer Londoners.

The findings, produced for Queen Mary University of London, are a triumph for the Mayor — and a serious blow to his party’s leader.

Just 18 per cent of Londoners think Mr Corbyn is doing well, while 62 per cent say he is doing badly — a negative score of -44. His ratings are a disastrous -35 among people who backed Labour at the 2015 general election, and -7 even among people who say they are current Labour supporters.

Some 58 per cent of Londoners say Mr Khan is doing well and a mere 23 per cent think he is doing badly — a score of +35. Among the better-off ABC1 voters, a Tory target, he scores +41. In outer London, which was Mr Johnson’s heartland, Mr Khan scores +31.

“Part of the reason Khan polls so well is he has cross-party appeal, from not only Labour voters but a big majority of Lib-Dems and even just over half of those who voted Conservative in 2015,” said Professor Philip Cowley, director of the university’s Mile End Institute.

Mr Johnson scored a massive +43 among Londoners in a 2013 poll in the prime of his stint as Mayor. However, he is now down to -14 in his new role as Foreign Secretary.

The Prime Minister’s rating was a healthy +9 among Londoners. The net scores of other leaders were Lib Dem Tim Farron, -8; Ukip’s Paul Nuttall, -34; and the Greens’ Caroline Lucas, +13.

The findings will bolster Mr Khan’s status as a possible Labour leader-in-waiting — but leave Labour MPs reeling.

Although Labour is still ahead of the Conservatives in London, its lead has slumped over the past year — from 16 points last April to just three. The state of the parties in London is currently Conservatives 34 per cent (+4), Labour 37 (-9); LD 14 (+7); Ukip nine (-4) and Greens five (+1).

The doubling of the Liberal Democrat vote in a year will be seen as vindication for Mr Farron’s policy of opposing Brexit.

“Just under a year ago, Labour led among both sexes, all age groups except the over-65s, both middle class and working class people, and in both inner and outer London,” said Professor Cowley.

“The Conservatives are now level among male Londoners, ahead among the over-fifties, and a point or two ahead among the middle class and outer Londoners.”

I wonder if Khan will seek a 2nd term as Mayor or try his luck as next Labour leader.

What the strawberry float is going on with this National Trust Easter Egg Hunt controversy which Theresa May has condemned? She said it's out of order that the word Easter is not featured on the poster when it actually is. Twice for strawberry float's sake. And this is the same woman who refused to condemn the words of Michael Howard about going to war with Spain or the Mail for its sexist front page the other week. She's such a stupid strawberry floating arsehole.

I'm sure all of these eggs do have 'Easter' on, but even if they didn't you'd have to be an obnoxious wanker to care in the slightest. Theresa May is both evil and a complete twat.

Shr's incredibly badly informed (IIRC correctly the name doesn't have Easter in it, even though Easter is featured throughout) and she's lept onto the "poor persecuted Christians/white people" angle

No - from her answer she didn't understand the issue was it was called "The Egg Hunt" rather than "The Easter Egg Hunt" - and instead thought all references to Easter had been removed from all material/posters etc

Its so hard to give a strawberry float when your voice doesn't seem likely to be heard for many many years, but these leaders are strawberry floating idiots.
