You - and Moggy, though I don't think it's as egregious in his case, as he was merely a bystander - are making a joke out of an earnest comment intended to get the thread back on track after its millionth derailment.

You were the one who started the argument with some gross jibe about Ms. Dugdale's dead friend - which I turned a blind eye to - and you're the one continuing to derail the thread now.

Those who lean towards conservative ideologies often talk about personal responsibility and I'm sure you're at least partially sympathetic to that rhetoric. Take some responsibility for this derailment, recognise you are still considered staff (at least, staff-emeritus) on this website, and help me to prevent such derailments in the future. To address your calling out of Winckle: if you had a problem with his post you should have reported it, or raised it directly in the Mod Room, which is your privilege as a member with elevated status.

Most of the time when I ask people to return to discussing the topic of a thread they simply do so without fuss. I don't want to be forced to conclude that you are deliberately trolling me or this thread. I am more than happy to accept a return to on-topic discussion as the closing of this matter. Thanks.

No worries. I will take this to PM with you later where we can properly discuss this, Karl, rather than continuing our evident disagreement publicly in this thread.

I love how polite the enmity gets in discussion threads.

It's like Regency gentleman agreeing to a duel. Take it to pm sounds like 'I demand satisfaction, sir. I will see you at dawn. Swords or pistols?'

Theresa May is staying on as PM. She wants to fight the next election.
What rae her chances of making it to 2022 as PM.

I'd say zero. She must know that the only reason she is still there is because the Tories wanted a period of stability to start Brexit negotiations and more importantly to avoid any early calls for another general election

Or that. Very true.

You could argue she got the job as nobody wanted the gig at that point as well.

i think she's basically been told to say it to try and divert attention away from people trying to manoeuvre for her job; i doubt she actually believes she will still be leader, or even wants to be by the next election

I just love how much panic her comments caused amongst her own! Why does she keep doing it, breaking rank? It doesn't make her look strong, it makes her look indecisive.

Other backbenchers tipped for leadership, including former army officers Tom Tugendhat and Johnny Mercer, may also be called forward in the reshuffle.

I think the bloke whose name sounds like a creative euphemism for having a wank could be a vote winner.

I really don't think panic is the word. Concern possibly but not panic. Basically she's a lame duck prime minister now and they'll use her whilst brexit etc are going on then the knives will come out. No one is more ruthless than Tory MP's when there's blood in the water. She's talking a good game now and saying the right things for her but deep down she knows she's on borrowed time.

I read also that a few key Tory figures had warned her against a snap election and the dangers inherent of doing so. Behind closed doors - there wont be panic. Just an assurance that she wont be running in the next General.

He will get destroyed. He isn't going to appeal to younger voters  he might win some votes from his fanbase but that's about it.

I doubt he could win a leadership election, but we'll have to see. The way things are going he'll be our next Prime Minister.

Without a massive overhaul it's becoming difficult to see how a post-Brexit Conservative party can avoid a collapse. Their voter base is, to put it bluntly, increasingly dieing off from old age, and once post-Brexit reality hits they'll be taking the brunt of the blame, the Mail and Express will either defend them to a dwindling audience or just turn on them completely.

I don't doubt for a second the papers will turn on them like dogs without acknowledging their fault in the matter for even a second.
