Theresa May is set to fire up to a quarter of her cabinet and wants to offer Boris Johnson a new role as she prepares to launch 2018 with a domestic policy blitz designed to convince voters she can do more than Brexit. May has decided to hold a reshuffle in January to bring in younger MPs after concluding her government needs a new year reboot.

Patrick McLoughlin, the party chairman; Justine Greening, the education secretary; Greg Clark, the business secretary; Chris Grayling, the transport secretary; and Andrea Leadsom, the leader of the Commons, have all been tipped for the chop by May’s aides. Sajid Javid, the communities secretary, is also vulnerable, but May’s determination to put housing at the heart of her domestic agenda could save him. Jeremy Hunt, the health secretary, is tipped to take over the Cabinet Office role vacated when May’s closest cabinet ally Damian Green was forced out before Christmas, but the prime minister is not expected to give Hunt the title of first secretary of state.

Chancellor Philip Hammond is safe in his post, but senior May aides want to persuade Boris Johnson to take a souped-up Brexit delivery job, probably based in the business department, after a turbulent time at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

The only role Boris warrants is the back end of a panto horse, when the front end has eaten far too much fiber.

Also please please can we send Jeremy Hunt to die in some war-torn hell-hole?

Fingers crossed Leadsom gets the sack. Although her job as mp is always safe due to the seat she holds as it's always tory.

How hunt can get a promotion or still be in government is beyond me. Whilst he was just doing as he was told during the NHS pay debacle it was the way he handled it that was disgraceful.

Just a shame Amber Rudd isn't on the radar for getting the chop, she's a very dangerous home secretary.

Really we need to get rid of May and get someone else in as PM.

Telegraph so take with a pinch of salt but,

Theresa May to appoint a 'Cabinet minister for no deal Brexit' in reshuffle

A “Cabinet minister for no deal” is to be appointed by Theresa May as part of the reshuffle of her top team which begins on Monday, the Telegraph can reveal.

The new minister is likely to be based in the Department for Exiting the European Union alongside David Davis, the Brexit Secretary, to provide regular updates on preparations for leaving the EU without a trade deal. They would attend Cabinet and control a significant budget, but would not be a Secretary of State. The appointment will be seen as an attempt by the Prime Minister to demonstrate to her EU counterparts and to Brexiteers that Britain is serious about leaving the EU without a deal if talks fail.

Eurosceptic Tories believe that appointing a “No Deal minister” would actually help to win Britain a better Brexit deal as it would show the EU that Mrs May is serious about walking away.

They are already concerned about the influence of senior civil servants like Oliver Robbins, the Prime Minister’s EU adviser and Sir Jeremy Heywood, the Cabinet secretary, over Mrs May. The post is widely expected to go to Steve Baker, currently the number two in the Department for Exiting the EU. Mr Baker, who enthusiastically campaigned for Leave at the 2016 EU referendum, is respected across the Conservative party. He does not currently attend Cabinet. Mr Baker is a former chairman of the influential European Reform Group of around 60 Tory Eurosceptic MPs. One ERG source said the new post was “the test for the Right about whether or not the Government actually does mean that Brexit means Brexit”.

Mrs May signalled that she was prepared to take a hard line with Brussels over agreeing the terms of the two-year transition period after Britain formally leaves the EU in March next year. Mrs May told the Andrew Marr Show on BBC1 that it was “important for business and for business confidence … to have that detail by the end of March in 2018”

Then, Mrs May said, she would hope to be able to present the terms of a deal to MPs in the House of Commons for a vote in October this year. Mrs May’s timescales are apparently at odds with those of Michel Barnier, the EU’s chief negotiator, who has said that a Brexit transition deal to cover the two years would not need to be formalised until October.

The strawberry float is a 'No Deal Brexit' when we're negotiating a deal?

What does that even mean?

Once again saying they'll walk away with no deal when they actually can't.

This government are a bit thick, and will capitulate on everything despite this stupid posturing.

It means we have a useless government that can't/won't negotiate a good deal for the country. They've been saying all along that "no deal is better than a bad deal", which it obviously isn't, but that's probably what they're going to end up with.

They are still playing up to the shouty retards in the brexit camp even though that's a small group and it's a crap idea for the whole country.

They seem to understand the concept that then what make all teh noise aren't always the majority.

She is a strawberry floating idiots, Davis is a strawberry floating idiot, and everyone who voted Tory in the last couple of elections are idiots.

I think one of the greatest mysteries of modern times is how the strawberry float Boris Johnson is still foreign secretary (assuming reports of him not being moved in the reshuffle are true)?

May needs the papers to keep pushing the idiots to support her, Boris is king Brexit so if she remotes him in any way they will shout and scream for her blood because she is "kicking the glorious brexitters out of government" she will be branded a traitor the idiots will want rid of her and in her head she needs them to support her.

She is an idiot.

It’s just politics. May is one of the weakest PMs of all time. To hang onto power she needs the support of Boris, if she sacks him then he’ll probably challenge her leadership and she’ll be out of a job. She can’t touch him.

The real mystery is why any of the Tory MPs support Boris. He’s famous and amuses people on TV but he is also completely incompetent and useless.
